00:05 A century after the first Olympics in Paris,

00:07 about 10,500 athletes from 206 countries are expected in

00:12 the French capital for the 2024 Summer Games and Paralympic Games.

00:16 The opening ceremony will take place on the Seine River.

00:20 The Stade de France in the city's north will host the showpiece athletic events.

00:24 One of the advantages of the Paris 2024 Games is that

00:28 very few sporting sites have to be built.

00:30 The Aquatic Center will host diving, among other sports, and

00:34 the venue for badminton will also hold rhythmic gymnastics.

00:37 At Pont Alexandre III, open water swimming will take place in the Seine,

00:41 near cycling events.

00:43 The Grand Palais will host fencing and taekwondo.

00:46 Archery will be on the Esplanade des Invalides with cycling.

00:49 Judo and wrestling will be on the Champs de Mars.

00:52 Roland Garros, the venue for the French Open, will host tennis as well as boxing.

00:58 Urban sports will be at Place de la Concorde.

01:01 Versailles, just outside the capital, will be home to equestrian events.

01:05 Hockey will take place in Colombe at the Yves du Manoir Stadium,

01:09 the only site remaining from the 1924 Games.

01:12 Surfing events will be in Polynesia and

01:14 the final stages of handball in the northern city of Lille.

01:18 Football, meanwhile, will take place across seven French cities,

01:21 while sailing will occur in waters off Marseille.

01:25 Shooting events will be held in Chateau Rue.

01:27 The Olympic Village is located just outside Paris,

01:32 less than 30 minutes from competition sites for 85% of athletes.

01:36 The Media Village will be built in Le Bourget, just north of the city.

01:40 When the Games are over, both will be converted into housing.

01:43 The 2024 Games will take place from July 26th to August 11th, and

01:48 the Paralympics from August 28th to September 8th, 2024.
