US, Philippines enhance alliance amid South China Sea tensions

The Biden administration reassures the Philippines that the US remains firmly committed to defending them, especially with rising tensions due to Chinese activities in the South China Sea. Following a summit involving President Joe Biden, the US and Filipino officials met to discuss strategic and military concerns, with Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan hosting their Philippine counterparts at the State Department.
