00:00 This is high. This is high.
00:03 Okay guys, give me a good clean fight. Obey my commands and protect yourselves at all times.
00:08 Touch gloves. Good luck.
00:09 Charlie Suarez, you saw him wearing the army shirt.
00:15 Well, he was actually promoted to Staff Sergeant in the Philippine Army
00:20 as a result of winning the WBAsia title in April of 2022.
00:24 And this young man, well, he comes from a boxing family.
00:28 His father was a fighter, his grandfather was a fighter.
00:31 The Correa fighting spirit lives on.
00:34 And Tim, he dropped Robeson Conceicao.
00:37 He dropped Jose Enrique Vivas.
00:40 He really gave Adam Lopez a great fight when he was undefeated in the bubble.
00:45 He just can't get a win against these top guys.
00:48 A lot of those fights could have won either way.
00:51 I mean, and some people in the arena felt that he won those fights, to be honest with you.
00:56 So, you know, nothing you can do about the judges.
00:59 When the decision happens, that's what it is.
01:02 You just need to make sure you do more the next time.
01:05 And that's what he said. I'm intent on finally getting over that hump
01:08 and getting that win against a top fighter.
01:11 This is undefeated Charlie Suarez out of the Philippines.
01:14 Quick hands.
01:17 And also, you know, you gotta reassess your performances as well.
01:21 That's extremely important.
01:23 You know, sometimes you make fights harder than what they should be.
01:26 And you see Correa now actually boxing.
01:29 The kid, the young man can box.
01:31 He come from the school with Antonio Diaz and Joel Diaz.
01:34 Now he's with, you know, Robert Garcia.
01:36 However, he knows how to box, but at the same time, his heart gets in the way.
01:41 And he just wants to slug it out once he gets hit.
01:44 But if he stays smart, if he stays smart like he is right now,
01:48 I mean, he could do some damage.
01:50 He's got a long frame, good jab.
01:52 Very educated, got some pop on his shots.
01:54 Great variation with his offense as well.
01:56 Goes well down to the body.
01:58 And Suarez is solid. I mean, he's an Olympian.
02:02 So you know he knows how to fight.
02:04 And just because--just put it this way--just because you're a great amateur
02:08 doesn't mean that you're going to be a great pro.
02:10 However, you can tell Suarez has that pro style already.
02:14 He likes to sit down on his punches.
02:16 You see him grounded, his feet got big legs.
02:20 And he's got some pop.
02:22 Nine knockouts and 16 victories.
02:24 Seven knockouts and 15 wins for Correa.
02:26 And it's going to be in the left hook.
02:27 It's going to come with the left hook.
02:29 If he's going to hurt Correa, it's going to be with that left hook, Suarez.
02:32 You see him trying to set it up right there with an uppercut.
02:38 Trying to get him to lift up and then come around with the left hook.
02:41 And then every now and then you'll see Suarez,
02:43 he'll just sneak the left hook behind as you're throwing that right hand
02:46 or sitting still in front.
02:49 Good right hand down to the body from Suarez.
02:52 Good set up.
02:54 Great punch variation from Suarez early on.
02:57 Yes.
02:58 Against the very game, Correa.
03:00 Good defense there from Correa, and then he gets clipped by the second
03:07 left hook that Suarez let through.
03:09 Correa better keep his right hand at home.
03:12 That left hook with Suarez is something else.
03:16 [Gavel]
03:18 Oh, nice right uppercut there from Charlie Suarez
03:28 to close up the opening round.
03:32 Top Rank Boxing on ESPN+ is presented by AutoZone.
03:37 We're in Corpus Christi, Texas, in the Gulf of Mexico,
03:42 and we've got a lot of action.
03:44 This young man, who happens to sit at the number one spot of Tim Bradley's
03:49 double stamp prospect list.
03:51 Then we're going to see Daniel Alvarez against John Rincón.
03:54 Ruben Villa, the fourth.
03:56 He continues his ascent in the featherweight division.
03:59 And then the pro debut of King Julian Delgado against Juan Tamez
04:04 in an all-Texan matchup.
04:08 That's before we move over to ESPN for our three-fight card
04:11 beginning at 9 p.m. Central Standard Time, 10 p.m. Eastern,
04:16 immediately after the UFC 300 undercard.
04:19 But this is the man you want to see, Tim.
04:21 You already know he's going to come steal the show tonight.
04:25 Just like he did last--
04:26 Again, again, that young man right there is something special, people.
04:30 I'm letting you all know right now.
04:31 He's only, what, 20 years old now?
04:33 My goodness.
04:35 He's doing a great job, and his family, his father, is a team effort.
04:39 They're doing a great job in developing him
04:41 and keeping him actually humble at the same darn time.
04:44 But, yes, he's a phenomenal skill.
04:46 Looking forward to seeing him later tonight.
04:48 Such a pleasure to talk to as well, his demeanor, his humility.
04:51 The entire family, though.
04:53 Valiant has done an amazing job with the Valiant Five young men
04:57 who are all fighters, all of them except for one, I think,
05:02 who has yet to make his pro debut at age 18 but will soon.
05:06 Durahim, I believe, they're all professionals in every sense of the word.
05:12 I admire--I actually admire the father.
05:17 The father, man, I admire him very much.
05:23 Look at those combinations from Suarez here.
05:26 Just closing the space with combinations like that, that's beautiful.
05:30 Eventually--ooh, that right hand hurt him.
05:32 You see that right down to the spleen.
05:34 Right there on the spleen of Correa.
05:37 Ooh, nice left uppercut there from Suarez.
05:39 You caught it.
05:40 I'm telling you, watch that left hand.
05:43 You know, he looks--it seems like he's breaking away,
05:45 but then as soon as some action is about to start,
05:48 he'll lead with the left hook, surprising you
05:51 with a different punch from a different angle.
05:53 That time, it was a nice--it looked like a most violent uppercut,
05:56 but it might have been a 45, half hook, half uppercut.
05:59 The Oscar de la Hoya special.
06:01 Yes.
06:04 Luis Correa, he's trained by Robert Garcia,
06:07 sparred Raymond Murataya and Lidolfo Delgado for this fight,
06:11 so he's got elite sparring.
06:13 Robert could not be here due to a family commitment,
06:16 so Felipe Campa and Luis Correa Sr. are working the corner.
06:19 So what Luis--what's happening with Luis is that--Luis Correa is,
06:24 is he's jabbing, and he's stuck on his front foot after his jab.
06:28 That was a nice uppercut by him as well, but he's stuck.
06:31 He's heavy on the front foot when he jabs, and then he steps.
06:34 You see his back foot as he crosses his feet?
06:37 He's there for a split second a little bit too long,
06:39 and that's why you're seeing Suarez come with his combination.
06:42 So watch as he jabs and he steps to his left.
06:45 Watch his back feet, how he crosses it.
06:47 So a lunging left hook there from Suarez.
06:50 There he is.
06:54 And did you see the reaction?
06:56 He was stuck on that front foot.
07:00 And Suarez is smart enough to see that.
07:03 And it's not much variation with Correa's offense either.
07:08 He's just shooting a jab straight down the middle, and that's it.
07:11 Nothing else attached to it.
07:13 No jab hooks, no one-twos, no one-two-threes, just a single jab.
07:18 There it is again, single jab.
07:20 Guido Villanueva gets his opportunity against Efe Adjogba
07:28 in tonight's co-main event right here in Corpus Christi, Texas.
07:57 Guido Villanueva, born and raised in Rome, Italy,
07:59 where he comes from a family of professional tennis players.
08:03 75 and 20, and just under 100 amateur fights.
08:07 And as I mentioned, Giacomo and Elena,
08:10 they're now former professional tennis players.
08:13 He says, "Maybe if I wasn't boxing, I'd be a tennis player."
08:16 But either way, he's got to volley and parry away
08:20 the punches of one dangerous Efe Adjogba in tonight's co-main event.
08:25 Yes, he is, and it's going to be tonight.
08:28 Pink slips are going to be given out tonight to the loser in that co-main event.
08:34 So it's very important for Guido to win this fight tonight against Efe Adjogba.
08:42 Important for both fighters to actually win this fight.
08:50 See, some people might call this sportsmanship or whatever,
08:54 but don't call that brother-in-law.
08:56 You've got to stop that.
08:57 I'm going to call every fighter out when I see it happens.
08:59 Stop doing that. This isn't a sparring session.
09:01 You're in there trying to hurt the other man.
09:03 No, you didn't do a good job.
09:05 I'm trying to take you out of your element.
09:08 So I just had to show you folks at home that.
09:13 Stop brother-in-lawing each other and get in there and do what you need to do.
09:16 Then you've got to go to the body like Suarez is doing here.
09:19 Nice hook right there from Correa.
09:24 Changing it up from that jab and then just sneaking around with the left hook.
09:28 A little bit more love.
09:34 A little love taps.
09:36 A little love hook there from Suarez.
09:38 See, where are the level changes?
09:41 There's no level changes coming from Correa.
09:43 He's shooting a straight jab, single jab right down the middle.
09:46 Why don't you bring that jab downstairs as well?
09:49 Keep switching it up.
09:51 You want to bring that defense down?
09:53 Hit that bread basket down there.
09:55 More love. More love given by both guys.
10:04 Another handshake.
10:06 A high five.
10:09 Hello. Good job brother. Good job. Keep hitting.
10:12 [Laughs]
10:14 Asking Correa to throw that left hook.
10:26 Instead, Suarez lands a double jab.
10:29 That's good right there from Correa.
10:34 Good work right there.
10:35 A little low action coming from Suarez.
10:41 He made Correa come in with a nice right uppercut.
10:44 He's sneaky like that.
10:46 One minute it seems like he's not doing anything.
10:49 The next minute he just turns it on.
10:51 When you least expect it.
10:53 You got the jab, Correa. You got that working.
11:03 What's next?
11:05 What's the next thing you're going to do?
11:07 Because if you don't do anything else, that's what happens.
11:10 Suarez sneaks in behind that jab.
11:13 Nice right hook from Luis Correa.
11:19 The next main event features Jared Anderson,
11:30 who's undefeated but has a unique look on his boxing career
11:33 and plans for the future, which may not align with
11:36 what most people think.
11:38 [bell dings]
11:39 Time.
11:41 So what's your plans in boxing?
11:44 Get in and get out.
11:46 [laughs]
11:47 Get in and get out.
11:48 Get in and get out.
11:49 Okay, okay, okay.
11:51 I don't want to let the game make me.
11:53 I don't want to fall victim to the game.
11:56 What do you mean when you say that?
11:58 I put everything I had into it because I know I got so much more.
12:03 My parents instilled in me a long time ago when I was a real young child
12:07 that I was going to do something great because of who I was,
12:10 not because of what I did.
12:12 The person I was, who I was going to reach, who I was going to touch.
12:15 So I just know I got so much more potential to do other stuff
12:19 than just boxing.
12:20 Boxing does not complete me.
12:22 So you're saying you want to be the best at boxing,
12:26 but you ain't trying to stay at a pool, no legacy and all that?
12:30 100%.
12:31 100%.
12:32 I got you.
12:33 So you get in, beat who you want to beat, get the titles you want to get,
12:37 then you go.
12:38 100%.
12:39 [laughs]
12:42 Roy Jones Jr. has all the legacy in the world, a Hall of Famer.
12:46 He'll be privileged to go into the National Boxing Hall of Fame with him
12:49 on April 28th.
12:51 But Jarrett Anderson in tonight's main event taking on Riyad Murray
12:57 starting at 10 p.m. Eastern time when we move over to ESPN, the network.
13:03 I've been thinking about Jarrett and his outlook on the game
13:08 and whether I agree with it or not.
13:11 I respect it because I do understand it.
13:14 You don't necessarily have to love your job in order to do your job.
13:22 You don't necessarily have to love it.
13:24 I remember waiting tables.
13:27 I liked it for a little while, but then it got rough for me.
13:30 But I started to hate it.
13:32 Couldn't stand it.
13:34 But I respected it because that's how I made a living.
13:37 So I showed up to work on time.
13:39 I bust my butt.
13:40 I waited my tables and got the tips that I needed to get to be able to pay my bills.
13:45 So with Jarrett saying what he's saying, I get it.
13:49 As long as he respects the game of boxing, as long as he trains
13:53 and does the things that he's supposed to do in training to get prepared for his fights,
13:57 you don't necessarily have to love the game.
14:00 It's okay.
14:01 The difference, though, is that Jarrett has the cheat code.
14:05 He has that lotto ticket in his hand, and it's up to him whether he wants to cash it or not.
14:10 He has a fast track to greatness, to big money, heavyweight money,
14:15 that you didn't have, that a lot of people don't have.
14:18 You have to take the long route.
14:20 And if he does things right and commits for the right amount of time and for the right reasons,
14:24 he can accomplish exactly what he told Roy Jones he wanted.
14:28 I agree, but his motivation, as he told us, is money.
14:35 Seeing money made with it, that was his motivation too.
14:39 And now if a championship happens to come along to be able to get that money,
14:44 I'm sure Jarrett doesn't mind that, but that's not what he's after.
14:47 He's after the money in the sport.
14:49 And just to let everybody know, that's what we do it for.
14:53 All the other stuff is attached to it, but mainly it's to make a living
14:57 and change your family's history of life.
15:00 That's what it's about.
15:02 So I understand the young man in that aspect, in that aspect alone.
15:09 But boxing is a very jealous sport.
15:12 Yes, it is.
15:14 [crowd cheering]
15:32 Nice right hand there from Suarez.
15:36 But that may not have been the best right hand that landed in this round
15:41 as we are now halfway through this scheduled 8-rounder.
15:45 Let's take a look at what Luis Correa was able to do with his own--actually,
15:50 a Suarez right hand.
15:53 The Filipino.
15:55 It was Suarez landing his right hand.
15:57 You see Correa walking in right here.
15:59 He shoots that jab, and I told you, the single jab is going to come every single time.
16:02 No variation, no doubling up, no changing levels with the jab as well.
16:07 And when you see that being an experienced fighter like Suarez, an Olympian,
16:12 you know that the right hand's going to be right there
16:14 because that's the only punch that you know he's going to be throwing at that particular time.
16:19 So any time there's space, look for that right hand to come over the top for Suarez.
16:24 [crowd cheering]
16:33 Tim, did you pick up--
16:35 It's a garlic wall.
16:37 Your three fights with Manny Pacquiao, you're going to have to come over here.
16:40 Oh, man, come on, man.
16:43 You know, man, me and Filipinos, man, we got a love--like a hate-love relationship, brother.
16:51 I'm going to let you know right now.
16:55 Took one of three from a legend.
16:58 You know, got enough respect for him, baby.
17:03 Absolutely.
17:04 Pacquiao made me a rich man.
17:09 Round 5 of scheduled 8-rounder, and it's been all Charlie Suarez,
17:14 the Filipino who's 16-0 with nine knockouts, part of the Filipino Army.
17:20 Yeah, he's counterpunching really well, and he's--again, you can see his technique and form.
17:25 He hasn't faltered just yet. He's real still snappy, snappy with his punches, quick on the trigger.
17:31 But he's been a counterpuncher.
17:33 Every now and then he'll be the aggressor, but a lot of times he's just making Correa pay for his mistakes.
17:39 The predictability of Correa, you mentioned that earlier on in the fight, it's no change of pace from him,
17:44 and Suarez was able to pick it up early on, although he gets clipped with a nice jab there from Lue.
17:49 So now since Correa's getting outboxed, now he's trying to change the tempo up.
17:55 He's trying to put more pressure, and he's trying to throw more punches now.
17:59 And that's going to open--he's going to open himself up more to be hit by Suarez.
18:03 There you see a quick combination from the Filipino, and Correa says, "Bring it on."
18:09 You see the heart, the dog in Correa.
18:12 I mean, it's not like he's not trying to win. He is. He's just getting outgunned.
18:17 See, nice shot.
18:20 Suarez landing early with the lead right and then following up with a straight left.
18:24 Yeah, you know, looking at this fight on paper, I initially thought it was going to be a war toe to toe,
18:31 but the fact that Correa came in with a different game plan, trying to box, it hasn't turned into that.
18:38 And now you have Suarez boxing as well as he's boxing.
18:42 It's more of a tactical, technical battle now.
18:46 Nice body work from Correa.
18:49 Part of it might be the maturity of Luis Correa, who's now a father,
18:55 and you see things differently sometimes when fatherhood comes along.
19:01 That's all added motivation, Bernardo.
19:06 Yeah.
19:07 You know, we talk about Father Tom like it's a bad thing. No, I mean, he hasn't done anything in the sport.
19:13 So that's all fuel and motivation at the end of the day.
19:18 But when you get a bank full of money and you got a beautiful house and cars lined up in the driveway,
19:26 that's when Father Tom gets the best of you because now you got to find a new motivation.
19:34 You have everything you've ever wanted.
20:00 Left hand package from Suarez right here, going down, digging down to the body right there,
20:05 taking advantage of those elbows being down from Correa.
20:10 Nice little short left hook right there around the guard of Correa.
20:14 Correa just stepping back, trying to get out of range, trying to disengage.
20:18 Hand placement is all wrong, and you see Suarez taking advantage of it.
20:23 [Music]
20:26 Mix it up!
20:33 You can't stop fucking hooking.
20:37 Yeah?
20:38 Yeah.
20:39 Hey, do it!
20:40 You see the urgency and frustration in the corner of Luis Correa here, and Tim, that may not be the way to get to him here.
20:51 Look, what do you tell him when he's getting outpositioned?
20:56 Suarez is just a better fighter. Honestly, he's just a better fighter.
21:01 He's a better fighter technically, tactically.
21:04 He's being smart in there. He's quick.
21:07 Good footwork.
21:09 You see him, he's in good positioning all the time.
21:12 Good position. He steps back, he fires.
21:15 Steps back and he fires.
21:19 There's no answers. There's nothing that Correa can do, or he hasn't figured out yet in this corner.
21:24 Don't know what to tell him.
21:26 So that motivation is just, "Hey, come out there and give it all you got, kid."
21:31 They see the same thing we're seeing right now.
21:34 It's one thing to motivate, but Correa needs answers. He needs the how to do it, not just go do it.
21:40 They said, "Change it up. Change it up. You're doing the same thing over and over."
21:45 Now, whatever that means, that's what it means, I guess.
21:50 Not the greatest instructions in the corner, but if I was in this corner, I would tell him, "Focus on the body, kid."
21:58 That's what I would tell him.
22:00 His feet are too fast. You got to get close. You got to come in.
22:03 Don't come in behind the single jab. Come behind the double jab.
22:07 Change levels with the jab.
22:09 Once you get inside, you need to open up a can down to the guts, and make sure you stay close.
22:15 Don't pull straight back.
22:17 Get caught like that with that left hook from Suarez.
22:19 Yeah, but he doesn't need to fight in the center of the ring.
22:22 He needs to fight to have this against the ropes.
22:24 He needs to bag this guy against the ropes, and he needs to work.
22:26 He had him there, but he didn't close that exit.
22:30 Suarez got back in the center of the ring.
22:33 Now it's Suarez walking and bagging.
22:38 High five once again.
22:39 High five.
22:44 That's like brother-in-law. That's showing compassion.
22:48 That's a weakness in the fighter.
22:50 That's a weakness in the fighter, compassion.
22:56 That's why you were a dog.
22:59 It's either you eat, or he eats, right?
23:01 That was my mentality, man.
23:05 You can be a lot more talented than I am.
23:08 However, I was determined, and I had to feed my family, and nothing was going to stop that.
23:17 You see the bloody nose that Corey is fighting through here in the sixth round.
23:23 Just too slow.
23:25 Step behind.
23:28 You know what sucks when your opponent knows exactly what you're going to do before you do it,
23:33 and he already has a bag of tricks that he's looking to just set you up with.
23:38 That's what Suarez is doing. He knows exactly what he's doing.
23:45 Watch him step back and do something.
23:47 Nice right hand by Corey right there. Nice shot.
23:52 We know he's game. We know what we're going to get in a Luis Correa fight,
23:55 and we're going to have to turn it on in the final two rounds.
23:59 We also know that we have a main event that features Riyadh Murray,
24:03 who's 32-2 as a pro.
24:06 His losses were in cruiserweight and bridgerweight title fights.
24:11 Apart from that, he's coming off of a huge win, a split decision,
24:14 against Tony Yoka in his home country of France.
24:18 Defeated the Olympic gold medalist, handing him his third consecutive loss,
24:23 tonight he takes on Jared Anderson.
24:26 We mentioned the fact that he was born in the Ivory Coast but lives in Belgium,
24:31 has become a star over there, reviving Belgian boxing.
24:35 He's a former WBA cruiserweight champion,
24:38 and this is only his fourth career fight at heavyweight.
24:42 So Tim, what do you expect from the experience of Riyadh Murray?
24:46 A little resistance because he has the experience, like you said.
24:52 I think there's a possibility he could get out-muscled against Jared.
24:56 Jared is the bigger fighter, obviously.
25:00 I see through film study that Riyadh has trouble with pressure.
25:06 He likes to fight at a comfortable pace. He likes to fight at a distance.
25:11 He's extremely patient and defensive at the same time,
25:15 and he'll look to make Jared pay for any mistakes.
25:19 I was talking with him in the fighter meeting.
25:22 He said that we're going to look to make him pay when Jared pulls back.
25:25 Now you know I've been that guy.
25:27 I've been telling him that, "Hey man, that's your Achilles heel.
25:30 You've got to stop doing that."
25:32 Well, they're going to be looking to expose that tonight.
25:35 So we shall see if he can.
25:38 That'll be our main event this evening.
25:40 We're going to move over to ESPN starting at 10 p.m. Eastern, 7 p.m. Pacific, 9 p.m. Central.
25:48 Here in Corpus Christi, Texas, Bernardo Osuna, Tim Bradley, and Joe Tessitore.
25:58 Lili Correa has about five minutes to turn this fight around,
26:02 which has seen him be outboxed and outmaneuvered by undefeated Filipino Charlie Suarez.
26:13 Correa's best bet here, Tim, to turn this into a fight.
26:16 Not the boxing match that Suarez has been enjoying.
26:18 Well, you've got to be able to corner him.
26:20 You've got to be able to cut off the ring.
26:22 That was a good jab right there from Correa.
26:24 Great timing with that jab.
26:28 But as long as the fight is happening in the center of the ring,
26:30 Correa is not going to have any answers.
26:32 I don't care.
26:33 See, that's exactly where he needs to be.
26:35 But then you see the tactics right there.
26:37 The nice little just tuck.
26:38 Oh, what a nice shot.
26:40 I told you about that in the first round.
26:42 That left hook just comes out of nowhere.
26:44 That was perfectly timed, Tim.
26:46 But again, tactics, man.
26:48 This guy is tactical.
26:49 He's technical as well.
26:50 He knows he does the right thing at the right time.
26:52 Suarez, he stepped in off the ropes just to smother the work of Correa,
26:57 not allowing the space in between.
26:59 That's smart work right there.
27:04 See, it's not allowing him to extend with those hands once he steps inside.
27:10 Oh, that uppercut.
27:12 Yes, he buzzed him with that uppercut.
27:14 Correa hurt him with that uppercut, and I don't know if he realizes that,
27:16 but he needs to step on the gas right now.
27:18 This is the opportunity right now to do some damage against Suarez.
27:23 Was finally able to get inside that 6-inch reach advantage from Charlie Suarez,
27:27 and this is the Luis Correa that we expected early on.
27:31 But Correa's been looking for that shot all night, and it finally landed for him.
27:39 Whoa, there that left hook again.
27:51 [Gavel]
27:53 Luis Correa to throw big shots here as he slipped as he was taking a step forward.
27:57 Then he gets caught with the left hook from Charlie Suarez.
28:03 A good round.
28:04 I don't know if that was enough for Luis Correa to take it, but we'll listen in to his corner.
28:09 Instead of waiting, all you're doing is countering your way.
28:12 All you're doing is countering.
28:13 Ladies and gentlemen, here inside the American Bank Center, we go to the AFC Final Round.
28:19 Last round.
28:21 Hey, you have to go out and f--- him.
28:24 You got to knock him out.
28:25 [Speaking Spanish]
28:29 You need to stand at your range.
28:31 If not, you're not going to hit him.
28:32 Are you tired?
28:33 I'm good, I'm good.
28:34 Then f---ing throw it then.
28:35 Throw it in the f---ing ring.
28:38 Look, when you start and you set up punches with your jab,
28:41 then you can use the same mechanics to set up those left hooks right there.
28:46 Automatic punch from Suarez, turning it right over.
28:50 Looked like it was going to be a jab.
28:52 Correa wasn't ready for it.
28:54 Coming around that, but this uppercut right here, I'm telling you, I know right now,
28:58 ooh, on the throat and the chin.
29:00 That got Suarez's attention for a split second.
29:04 Yeah, then he went back to his left hook.
29:07 That was probably the best round for Luis Correa.
29:09 Not even sure it was enough to come away with the points
29:13 because Suarez landed a couple of left hooks there to even things out.
29:17 This is the eighth and final round.
29:19 Good jab there from Luis Correa, who went back to the corner,
29:22 and Felipe Campa was in his face saying,
29:25 "If you've got anything left, I need you to let it all loose here in the eighth round."
29:30 He needs to let that uppercut go again.
29:33 That's a deadly punch coming against a shorter opponent.
29:37 You know, shorter opponents usually lean forward a bit
29:40 to try to get inch a little bit closer with their punches.
29:44 Yeah, Tim, but Suarez is shorter, but he's also got a six-inch reach advantage,
29:48 and that's why he's been able to get to Correa when Correa thought he was in a safe zone.
29:54 High five.
29:56 Man.
29:57 You say "chocala" in Spanish.
29:58 Chocala?
29:59 Yeah.
30:00 What?
30:01 Chocala.
30:02 Yeah, like--
30:03 Oh, no, no, no, no.
30:05 That's a slip.
30:06 That's a slip.
30:07 That's a slip.
30:08 It's wet in the center of the ring on that paint.
30:12 It's dangerous.
30:15 Take a look at it, Tim.
30:20 Yeah, in the center.
30:21 I try to stay out of--you know, I try to go around that, to be honest with you,
30:24 when I would fight, and especially when it gets wet because you got the water dripping down from the trunk.
30:30 You see their trunk's full of water, and that's what happens.
30:35 So I try to keep the fight a little bit on the outside or pressing forward away from that.
30:39 I try to keep my back away from that or my legs off of that mat.
30:42 And you see Correa closing the gap a lot better here in the final round,
30:47 keeping Suarez up against the ropes.
30:49 Stop. Break. Break. I got it.
30:51 Suarez has to tie up.
30:54 There's blood now on the left eye of Luis Correa.
30:58 I wonder if that came from a punch or a head clash.
31:01 Or if it's even just from his nose that the glove put it up there.
31:04 We'll see.
31:10 Oh, there's a cut there.
31:11 Outside part of the eye.
31:12 Oh, nice left hook once again from Suarez.
31:15 It was a lead right followed by a left hook.
31:17 That was a one-two-one.
31:19 Nasty.
31:21 Break. I got it. Break. I got it.
31:24 Man, his punch variation is freaky.
31:28 Suarez's punch variation is something else.
31:30 It's something else.
31:32 He's sneaky.
31:34 Subtle feints. It's all subtle, too.
31:36 It's not like a whole lot of glaring, but it's just so subtle, and he's so quick on the trigger.
31:41 That's what makes him dangerous.
31:44 And those long arms.
31:45 Yes, and those long arms help him.
31:48 Oh, there it is again.
31:50 Correa tried to get out and escape and just get caught with his hands dropped because of those long arms.
31:55 Suarez followed him right out with that right hand.
31:58 Here he at 5'6". He's supposed to have a 6'6".
32:01 Oh, that's a knockdown.
32:03 That's going to be a knockdown.
32:04 That's a knockdown.
32:05 Did their feet get tangled?
32:08 Get another look at it.
32:12 See if the feet got tangled.
32:13 Maybe it did. I don't know.
32:15 That was a reaction that you got from Suarez.
32:19 I don't think it's going to be enough for Luis Correa tonight.
32:21 Not his best performance.
32:22 An excellent performance from Charlie Suarez to keep him off balance.
32:26 Let's take a look at what happened here.
32:28 He's moving laterally here.
32:32 Got hit with a shot. He goes down.
32:40 That was obviously contact, but he was off balance.
32:43 The ropes held him up.
32:44 Let me see that.
32:45 Wait.
32:46 Can we run that back one more time?
32:48 I got to see it.
32:49 I got to see if his gloves touched.
32:51 No, but his butt went on the bottom rope.
32:54 Watch.
33:00 That's not a knockdown.
33:01 Maybe it did. They left glove.
33:02 Left glove?
33:03 Okay. Left glove went down.
33:06 I can see it from this angle.
33:13 Yeah.
33:14 Left glove went down.
33:16 It was almost like he landed the punch.
33:18 It was a simultaneous left hook.
33:20 There's the glove touching the canvas for the 10-8 round in favor of Luis Correa.
33:28 What do you take away from Charlie Suarez's performance, Tim?
33:31 Because he was solid throughout.
33:33 I like it.
33:34 I think he's extremely dangerous.
33:37 Very crafty inside the ring.
33:39 Again, the subtle things that he's doing, you don't see the nuances, the foot faints, the angle changes, the footwork, getting in and out of range, the long arms he possesses, the quickness.
33:49 He's quick on the trigger as well.
33:52 Well-schooled fighter.
33:53 I really do like this performance tonight.
33:56 Big shout-out to Correa.
33:58 He did what he can do, but he was just outgunned by a better fighter tonight.
34:01 A disciplined fighter in Charlie Suarez.
34:04 Let's see if he improved to 17-0.
34:05 Mark Chanuk, get the decision.
34:07 Ladies and gentlemen, after eight rounds here inside American Bank Center, we go to the judges' scorecards for the official decision.
34:16 Nathan Cantu and Lucy Rogers both score the bout 77-74.
34:21 Ruben Carreon has it 76-75.
34:25 All in favor of your winner by unanimous decision, Charlie Suarez.
34:30 Charlie James "Warner" Suarez.
34:35 He does get the victory by unanimous decision.
34:38 That 76-75 card seemed a little too tight, Tim.
34:41 They were giving Correa a lot more credit than we were.
34:46 Yeah.
34:47 Look, I just look at it this way.
34:48 The right man won at the end of the day.
34:51 That's all that matters at the end of the day.
34:54 Charlie Suarez with the 17th victory.
