00:26 where the BRP Hydrographer Ventura, a survey vessel of the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority or NAMRIA, will do hydrographic research.
00:34 BRP Gabriela Silang of the Philippine Coast Guard is escorted in the vessel.
00:39 The hydrographic survey is being done to measure the depth of the sea.
00:43 But earlier this morning, while the Philippines' ships were heading there,
00:47 they were hit by a ship of the China Coast Guard.
00:51 The distance of the ships based on the map is only 35 nautical miles from the city of Pangasinan.
00:58 It entered our Exclusive Economic Zone.
01:01 The ships stopped for eight hours.
01:03 China is clearly sending a message that, and it may be that in the wake of the other things that have been happening,
01:09 including this trilateral summit, that China is being especially aggressive
01:14 and making the point that it believes in its nine-dash line claim.
01:20 When NAMRIA and PCG ships were allowed to return to the research area around 10 a.m. earlier,
01:27 they were still followed by a ship of China.
01:30 According to the International Advocacy Group, Sea Light, after NAMRIA announced that it will conduct a hydrographic survey,
01:36 two China Coast Guard and 10 Chinese maritime militia ships were monitored in the Bajo de Masinloc.
01:43 I wondered if it was part of a normal rotation, but it's an unusually heavy rotation.
01:48 When the Vietnam survey conducted a survey on the territories that China is stealing,
01:54 China harassed them several times and tried to cut the cables of their equipment.
01:59 If indeed China decides that this hydrographic survey is a threat to their sovereign claims within the nine-dash line,
02:10 then they could and have in the past shown the capacity to get pretty aggressive with these things.
02:16 GMA Integrated News is also trying to get a reaction from PCG and NAMRIA.
