00:00Good morning, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. So, it's a bit
00:05of a chillier start this morning, but quite a blustery start with plenty of showers around.
00:09All thanks to this area of low pressure out towards the east of the UK, bringing with
00:13it some north-westerly winds and some colder conditions compared to what we've seen over
00:17the weekend. Higher pressure does remain close by out towards the west of the UK, and there
00:21are some hints that we'll see this moving closer towards us as we head through the end
00:25of the week. Back to what we've got out there at the moment
00:28though, and plenty of showers around this morning. Those heaviest bands of showers slowly
00:32pushing their way south and eastwards through the rest of this morning, and then we will
00:35start to see some sunshine developing behind. There will still be plenty of showers around
00:40though, these particularly heavy across northern parts of England, Northern Ireland and parts
00:44of Scotland too, where we could see some sleet and snow over the hills.
00:49With that brisk north-westerly breeze, temperatures will be down compared to what we saw over
00:52the weekend, only around 12 or 13 degrees in the south, and struggling to reach double
00:57figures further north. But if we factor in that brisk north-westerly breeze, it really
01:01will be feeling quite chilly, struggling to feel much above 3 or 4 degrees in the north,
01:06and only feeling around 6 or 7 degrees in the south.
01:10Through the rest of Monday evening, there will still be plenty of showers around, and
01:13they'll continue to push their way southwards across the UK, overnight Monday and into the
01:18start of Tuesday, again turning particularly heavy across northern parts of England and
01:22parts of Scotland too. The showers will gradually start to ease through
01:26the early hours of Tuesday morning though, and there will be plenty of clear skies around.
01:30And with those winds turning a little bit lighter, it will be another chilly night to
01:33come, and a chilly start to the day on Tuesday. Temperatures widely in the single figures,
01:38perhaps as low as 2 or 3, maybe even lower in some rural spots across parts of Scotland,
01:42and only around 5 or 6 degrees in the south. That does mean that Tuesday will be a chilly
01:49start, but it will be a dry start for most of us. There will be plenty of sunshine around
01:53through the morning, maybe a few showers across some coastal areas, and maybe the odd
01:56one or two bubbling up across parts of England through Tuesday afternoon, but there will
02:00be plenty more sunshine around, particularly across parts of Wales and northern parts of
02:04England. The winds will be a little bit lighter on
02:06Tuesday as well, and temperatures around about average, maybe 13 or 14 degrees in the south
02:11and 10 or 11 degrees in the north, but with those lighter winds and a bit more sunshine,
02:15perhaps not feeling quite as cold as Monday. Plenty of showers still around as we go into
02:20the start of Wednesday though, but the hints of higher pressure returning are strong as
02:25we go through the end of the week, so keep up to date via our YouTube channel to find
02:28out more details about that later in the week. Bye bye.
