00:00 Hello, it is going to be a very wet day for many of us. Widespread heavy persistent rain
00:05 spreading across much of the country in association with a relatively deep area of low pressure
00:10 that has actually pushed in from Europe and is gradually going to make its way north westwards
00:15 as we go through the next few days. This is then bringing widespread heavy rain across
00:20 the bulk of the country already spreading across much of England and Wales and will
00:24 push into Scotland as well. Perhaps something a little bit drier across parts of Northern
00:28 Ireland and some southern parts of England and Wales too. But here there will be some
00:33 thunderstorms developing and we do have a number of warnings in force. Now here are
00:37 your temperatures for today, your highs and I'm not going to dwell on them too long because
00:41 I want to get on to the warnings but they're around or a little bit above average for some
00:45 places, highs of 19 possibly 20. But under the wet weather it's going to feel markedly
00:50 fresher pretty unpleasant for some of us. But like I said a number of warnings out at
00:55 the moment. We have a yellow rain warning across a good chunk of Scotland away from
00:59 the far west but even here some thundery showers are quite possible. Another yellow warning
01:04 affecting much of England and Wales just far southern parts avoiding this. But here across
01:09 the far south of England we do have the risk of some heavy thunderstorms which could cause
01:13 some problems. Watch out for some large hail and frequent lightning here. But the greatest
01:18 cause for concern as we go through today will be across parts of North Wales and north west
01:23 England. Here we have an amber rain warning in force because over the high ground of north
01:27 west England we could see 70 to 90 millimetres of rain and over the mountains of North Wales
01:33 there's a potential for 100 to 150 millimetres possibly even a little bit more. This brings
01:39 the risk of some flooding. There could be some fast moving flood water. Communities
01:44 could get cut off. There could be power outages, very difficult driving conditions and other
01:48 delay to transport as well. As we go through the rest of the day we are going to see the
01:53 worst of the rain gradually shifting away towards the north west but it really takes
01:57 a long time to do so which is why we're going to see those rainfall totals really building
02:02 up particularly across the northern half of the UK where the persistent rain is likely
02:06 to continue as we go through into Thursday morning. Even some rain starting to push its
02:11 way into parts of Northern Ireland too. A drier story towards the south staying pretty
02:16 cloudy perhaps some clear spells towards the far south of the UK. Temperatures unsurprisingly
02:21 aren't going to drop a huge amount because of all the unsettled weather and whilst the
02:25 winds will be generally light towards the south they are going to be quite blustery
02:28 particularly towards north western parts of the UK. So Thursday doesn't look quite as
02:33 wet as today but nonetheless it is pretty wet particularly across the northern half
02:38 of the UK. Further outbreaks of rain continuing not as heavy as today but because of the heavy
02:43 rain that we are going to see there could still be some further issues which is why
02:46 the yellow warning across Scotland continues through much of tomorrow. Otherwise towards
02:51 the south maybe some bright sunny skies developing towards some south eastern parts and here
02:56 generally light winds but still some blustery winds towards the north west and with the
03:01 stronger winds here and some further wet weather it is going to feel pretty fresh pretty cool
03:05 for the time of year but a bit warmer towards the south south east again highs of around
03:09 19 possibly 20 Celsius. As we go further ahead and into the weekend and well Friday looks
03:16 like we'll see that rain continuing to shift its way northwards and so a drier picture
03:20 further south. More widely a drier picture for many of us on Saturday some showers perhaps
03:26 before we see some more rain arrive again for Sunday. The bank holiday Monday well that's
03:30 kind of looking a bit uncertain at the moment there is the potential for some wet weather
03:34 to come. The warnings that we do have out at the moment are likely to be updated so
03:39 do stay on top of them on our website and our app and do head to our website as well
03:43 to get some advice on how you can stay weather ready. I'll see you again soon. Bye bye.
03:47 Bye.
