00:06Decommissioned fire helmets will be seen in a whole new light next week when West Sussex Fire
00:11and Rescue Service pulls up the curtain on its Ashes to Art exhibition at Worthingtown Hall.
00:16Attendees can view each piece of art up close and place a bid to win their favourite concept
00:21via the online auction, which is being hosted on People Fundraising.
00:25The Ashes to Art exhibition is taking place at Worthingtown Hall between Tuesday, April 16 and Friday, April 19.
00:33The town hall is open to visitors between 9am and 5pm.
00:37The event comes after artists were encouraged to submit design concepts to show how they would use a decommissioned fire helmet as a canvas.
00:44In total, more than 60 designs were submitted.
00:47Tim Loughton, the Conservative MP for East Worthing and Shoreham,
00:50has announced that he will not stand for re-election at the next general election.
00:54The MP said that he has informed the AGM of the East Worthing and Shoreham Conservative Association
00:59that he would not be standing as the Conservative candidate.
01:02He published his letter to the Association Chairman saying it had been a great honour
01:06to have served as the first MP for the newly created East Worthing and Shoreham constituency since 1997.
01:13The Rampian Community Benefit Fund 2024 is now open for applications from charities, community groups
01:20and not-for-profit organisations to fund projects benefiting local communities and supporting the environment.
01:26Run by the Sussex Community Foundation, the fund has benefited 187 projects in Sussex
01:31with more than £2 million in grants in the past seven years.
01:35Its 2023 report, published this week, shows £200,000 awarded to 27 projects last year.
01:42More than a million local people in Sussex have benefited from the fund,
01:45which covers projects in the region from Littlehampton Harbour in the west to Beachy Head in the east
01:50and up to the A272 near Twynham in the north.
