00:00What's up? Paul here from Guitar World. Now, last time I was here, I showed you a smart
00:09tech and eco-friendly acoustic electric called the Blue Lava Touch with an integrated touchscreen
00:14display. This time around, I'll be showing you a more streamlined version of this visionary
00:19acoustic electric guitar by Lava Music that's guaranteed to appeal to both casual and seasoned
00:25players as well as tech-savvy guitarists. This is the brand new Blue Lava called the
00:31Blue Lava Original. Let's check it out.
00:42The Blue Lava Original is the latest acoustic electric from Lava, and it comes in a compact,
00:47lightweight, weatherproof body with a beautifully matched walnut frost white color, which is
00:52perfect for an on-the-go guitar for all types of players. Now, a little background. Lava
00:57Music is a music technology company that started in 2013. Lava is known for designing and developing
01:03musical instruments with new materials and innovative acoustic structures. But more importantly,
01:08Lava has been laser-focused on the integration of technology and art in order to make music
01:13creation easier and more enjoyable for users, as evidenced by the revolutionary Lava Me
01:193 and Blue Lava Touch guitars. You can check my earlier videos to see and hear these guitars
01:24in action, and if you wish to hear the community of users playing these guitars, check out
01:29their very cool Lava Plus app.
01:34What sets the Blue Lava Original from the others is its pared-down simplicity combined
01:39with a stunning sound using Lava Music's signature L2 preamp with FreeBoost and its
01:454-mass technology construction. Rather than an integrated touchscreen, the Blue Lava Original
01:51provides onboard chorus, delay, and reverb effects that generate a full and ambient tone,
01:57which offers an immersive sound experience.
02:07Let's quickly go over the highlights of this amazing guitar. At only 3.7 pounds, this 36-inch
02:13acoustic electric guitar is light on your hands and shoulders whether you're playing
02:17or carrying it around. Built with an HPL material or high-pressure laminate, the Blue Lava Original
02:24remains solidly stable in different weather conditions, in changing temperatures, humidity,
02:29and even spills or splashes.
02:31The guitar's parametric structure is engineered by simulating the vibration dynamics of the
02:44top, body, neck, and internal air, making those qualities resonate in perfect unison
02:50for a fuller and brighter tone. Also, the high-pressure laminate material used in this
02:55guitar is highly recyclable, and the design of Blue Lava Original centers on the idea
03:00of reducing the material and manufacturing impact on nature, making this guitar also
03:05eco-friendly.
03:06The L2 preamp can boost sounds without plugging into an amp, as the Freeboost technology uses
03:14the guitar back as a speaker. The L2 preamp also provides onboard effects of chorus, delay,
03:20and reverb. Besides the volume and reverb controls, you can see the effect knob governs
03:26the effect for either chorus or delay, which you can select from the onboard switch located
03:31inside the sound hole.
03:33First up, let's listen to the Blue Lava Original without any onboard effects, just hear it
03:37acoustically, and you'll hear this is a really pleasant, nice-sounding acoustic that's very
03:44warm. Here we go.
04:14Now, let's hear the magic when I turn on the onboard effects. As you know, as I said, mentioned
04:24before, there's a volume, we have the reverb, and then the effect knob over here, which
04:31allows you to dial in either delay or chorus. So, let's hear. Simply turn it on by pushing
04:37it down, and get the little green light. Here we go.
05:07Let's dial the reverb back a bit. Add some delay. So, mostly counter-clockwise, you have
05:34a shorter delay time, and as you incrementally move the knob up clockwise, you get a longer
05:40delay setting. So, take a listen.
06:04Now, simply turning, as I mentioned before, flick the switch on the inside, I can switch
06:24it now over to chorus from the inside switch. Get a nice little shimmer on the lower settings.
06:34And then more of a deep, full chorus on the higher setting.
07:04What's also great is the Blue Lava Original is ready to hit the stage. Simply
07:34by plugging in, and then you can use the onboard effects live as well, or you can
07:40just turn it off and use the house PA, or however you intend to use it, but it sounds
07:45great with the effects. Take a listen.
07:52The guitar also has an ergonomic neck shape designed for agile and comfortable wrist movements,
08:16and lets you play effortlessly. The low-action 2.3 millimeter string height is an ideal
08:21setup that's comfortable to play for both beginners and professionals, and combined
08:26with the thin heel, allows for easy and smooth access to the higher frets. The magnetic truss
08:33rod cover is simple to remove and replace, and this magnetic cover allows you to adjust
08:38the neck relief with ease. The Blue Lava Original is a standout, state-of-the-art acoustic
08:47electric from Lava Music. It's certainly portable enough to take anywhere, and with
08:52its built-in L2 preamp with reboost and onboard effects, it is equipped and ready to use onstage
08:58or in the comfort of your home. And considering its inviting playability, the Blue Lava Original
09:03is a must-have for any aspiring or seasoned guitarist. Definitely check it out.
