Transcript
00:00Mississippi State's baseball team lost 2-3 to Ole Miss in a three-game series over the weekend,
00:04marking the first time that the Rebels have beat the Bulldogs in a series since 2015.
00:09Now, a lot went wrong for the Diamond Dogs this weekend, but first, let's take a look at the offensive woes.
00:14The Bulldogs had a chance to take the series in Game 2, as they were up 7-3 entering the eighth inning.
00:19However, the Bulldogs' bullpen collapsed, allowing the Rebels to tie the game and eventually win it across 12 innings on Saturday night.
00:26Since being up 7-3 in that inning, the Bulldogs' offense sputtered,
00:30being outscored 16-4 across the rest of the game in Game 3 the following day on Sunday.
00:35The Bulldogs also had a lot of defensive miscues.
00:38In Game 2 on Saturday, they had a chance to close the game out,
00:41but an error from Armani Larry allowed the Rebels to score again and eventually win.
00:45While losing this series isn't the mean of end of all things for the Diamond Dogs this season,
00:50it still puts them in a tough spot moving forward.
00:53They now sit at 7-8 in SEC play and are unranked entering this week's slate against Alcorn State and Auburn and Starkville.
01:00They'll also have another chance at Ole Miss on May 1st in the Governor's Cup in Pearl, Mississippi.
01:05Their backs need to wake up this week,
01:06and their defense needs to lock in if the Bulldogs want a chance to reach the tournament this season.
