00:00 I'm here today at Turbey House Leisure Park where they're offering axe throwing and I've
00:10 come down to give it a go. So here we go.
00:15 Here we've Luke the instructor and he's going to show us how you're meant to do it properly.
00:24 So go on Luke.
00:25 So I'm right handed so I hold it in my right hand with my right leg forwards, line yourself
00:33 up with the centre of the target.
00:39 So loose grip, bump, face, pull, back forwards.
00:50 And so how many points would that be then that you've scored?
00:53 So that's a floor so that's nothing.
01:00 That's a four, the spike is just in the four there and a two.
01:09 You always go off the majority of the head so in this instance the majority is in the
01:13 two.
01:14 So a four and a two so I've got six points there.
01:19 And the blue spots if you hit them how many points do you get for them?
01:23 Blue spots for most games we do blue is ten but if you're competing against someone you
01:29 could use the blue spots to switch points with the other team.
01:35 If they're on say forty and you're on ten blue is either a chance to take their points
01:43 and they've got the lower or it could be quite close it's five and five isn't it, ten points
01:50 you're ahead.
01:51 Luke tell me when did you get into axe throwing and how did that come about?
01:57 Did axe throwing when I was in Cubs to be fair a long time ago.
02:01 In Cubs doing axe throwing, I've actually went through Scouts as well and Explorers
02:07 every camp we went on you had the opportunity to do axe throwing.
02:12 And then to be fair I've not done it for a couple of years until we decided at Terby
02:17 that we wanted to get axe throwing to get people interested in it so we set it up and
02:24 I've probably only been doing it for about four weeks now properly, instructing it, getting
02:29 back to throwing myself and it's probably my favourite activity out of all of them to
02:34 be fair on site.
02:36 And so how long would you get on an axe throwing session if you were to come down?
02:40 You get about 45 minutes so we do I think it's a group of six that we allow for 45 minutes
02:48 so you get a couple throws to begin with so you maybe get two practice throws each and
02:53 then we'll split you into teams depending on how many have come and we'll get you into
02:58 a couple different games challenging each other to see who comes out on top.
03:02 What age limit is there on this one, how old have you got to be?
03:06 It's a 10 plus so as long as you're over the age of 10 you can throw an axe.
03:12 Also at the Terby site which is just off Chain House Lane in White Stake if you're aged 8
03:16 or over you can have a go at archery, you can have a go on the gel blasters and you
03:21 can have a go at the laser clay pigeon shooting.
03:24 If you're aged over 6 you can have a go on the crazy bugs but that's dependent on the
03:29 weather conditions.
