00:00Every gamer loves stumbling upon sneakily hidden items.
00:03Usually they take the form of upgrades, shields, or weapons, but there are so many more possibilities.
00:07Collecting everything can take tens upon tens of hours.
00:10However, there are certain items just worth knowing about.
00:13I'm Scott from RockCulture.com, and these are 10 Hidden Video Game Items That Change Everything.
00:18Number 10, the Zeta Pi Omega File, Hades.
00:22While you attempt to break out of Supergiant's all-timer Hades,
00:25you'll encounter many characters from ancient Greek myths, such as Achilles, Thanatos, and Zeus.
00:30However, the people that most players are drawn to are Orpheus and Eurydice.
00:34Although these two musicians adore each other, they're imprisoned in different sections of the underworld,
00:39preventing them from rekindling their relationship.
00:41Or so it seems.
00:43If you keep speaking to this pair on each run, your stepmother Nyx will tell you that you can release Orpheus from servitude
00:48by locating the Zeta Pi Omega File in the administrative chamber.
00:53Once this order is sent to the contractor, you can purchase it, buying Orpheus out of his sentence.
00:58When you revisit Eurydice upon freeing her husband, you'll see she and Orpheus have been reunited,
01:03and are celebrating with a heavenly duet.
01:05It's a beautiful moment in the game, and for the characters,
01:08knowing Zagreus' actions brought these star-crossed lovers back together,
01:12and rewarding you with one of the most glorious pieces of music in the game.
01:16Number 9, the Mayan Armour, Assassin's Creed IV.
01:19AC4 Black Flag is a completionist's nightmare.
01:23You'll need to rummage around the lands and seas to find Templar Keys,
01:26letters in bottles, shanties, naval contracts, treasure chests, animus fragments, and manuscripts.
01:31Now, most of these items are superfluous, meaning you should only really seek them out
01:35if you're looking for that sweet, sweet 100% completion rating.
01:39However, one collectible worth finding are the Mayan Stellar Stones.
01:42By locating all 16 of these ancient keystones, you'll be able to open a vault in Tullum,
01:47which gives you access to the Mayan Armour.
01:49This protective plating is so sturdy, it makes you immune to all firearms.
01:54Needless to say, it's in the thick of battle where you'll realise just how much it trivialises combat.
01:59Completely removing your consideration for any ranged attacks,
02:02once you've got the simplistic counter-based melee combat down,
02:05the rest of the game and any ship or settlement takeovers are a cakewalk.
02:09Number 8, the Tsubaki Mark III Upgrades, No More Heroes.
02:13No More Heroes follows low-level hitman Travis Touchdown,
02:16who dreams of becoming the world's greatest assassin.
02:19After battling through hordes of mercenaries and defeating the top-ranked killers,
02:22Travis fulfils his dream and is crowned the top dog in the assassin game.
02:26Too bad he doesn't get a chance to celebrate though,
02:28since the ending implies he's killed by a hired gun while he's taking a dump.
02:32Some players were disappointed, saying it felt like an anti-climax,
02:36but that's because it was never the real ending.
02:38If you track down and board every beam katana,
02:41you'll face the true final boss, your brother, Henry Cooldown.
02:44Not only is this fight exceptionally entertaining and brutally difficult,
02:48but you'll also get a lot of insight into the siblings' backstory,
02:50as well as Travis' agent Sylvie, who just happens to be Henry's wife.
02:54Getting every beam katana isn't easy, since it'll set you back $744,000,
03:00and the Tsubaki Mark III alone is worth about half a million,
03:03so if you want to see the real ending, you'll have to grind like your life depends on it.
03:07Number 7, The Bucket, The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe.
03:11When The Stanley Parable launched in 2013,
03:13its originality, dark humour, and themes on the futility of choice
03:17made a massive impact on the gaming scene.
03:19With a narrator commenting on every last action Stanley could take,
03:22it led to tons of branching paths and endings along the way.
03:25Understandably, fans were thrilled when Expanded Edition,
03:28The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe was released in 2022,
03:31and true to the amount of secrets in the original,
03:34if you complete enough endings, you can access the Expanded section.
03:37Here, you're rewarded with a bucket.
03:39At first, players assumed this steel container was just a joke,
03:43but rather than having zero impact on the narrative, it's the total opposite.
03:46Carrying the bucket changes the narrator's dialogue,
03:49creates brand new divergent paths, and opens up even more endings.
03:53To top it off, revisiting every section with bucket in hand will uncover more secrets,
03:57including, eventually, the standard narrator narrating the bucket's dialogue.
04:01It's the whole thing.
04:02Number 6, The Chaos Emeralds, Sonic the Hedgehog.
04:05For most people growing up in the 1990s,
04:08the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic were probably the first hidden items they came across in video games.
04:12Depending on which title you're playing, getting all the Emeralds might change the ending,
04:16unlock a secret boss, or open up a whole new level.
04:19For the majority of fans, though, it doesn't get better than using all seven Emeralds in Sonic the Hedgehog 2
04:24to transform into Super Sonic.
04:26Not only does the furry speedster become invincible in this form,
04:29but he can move at what feels like light speed,
04:31burning through levels in literal seconds, and reaching previously inaccessible areas
04:35if you get Sonic's increased momentum and pathways just right.
04:39Number 5, The Shiny Stone, Super Mario RPG.
04:42This incredibly charming RPG comes with some awesome references to other gaming properties.
04:47While visiting an inn, the Legend of Zelda's Link can be spotted napping in the corner,
04:51and in the Mushroom Castle, you can find Samus Aran from Metroid resting up from Mother Brain.
04:56However, the coolest Easter egg is also the most well-hidden.
04:59After obtaining fireworks in Moleville, you need to trade them to a girl in the village to obtain a Shiny Stone.
05:05If you use this stone on a sealed door in Monstro Town, you'll encounter an entity called Kulex,
05:10who will challenge you to a battle.
05:12This interdimensional creature is harder than anything else in the game,
05:15being Super Mario RPG's tribute to endgame Final Fantasy bosses,
05:19as you'll need to have all stats and weapons maxed out to even stand a chance.
05:23With developers Square wearing that iconic IP on their sleeve,
05:26Kulex's theme song is the boss music from Final Fantasy 4,
05:30and if you manage to win, you'll get the victory jingle from Final Fantasy itself.
05:34Number 4, The Five Talismans, Sifu.
05:37Sifu follows a martial artist tracking the five criminals who murdered their father.
05:41Because this beat-em-up is rock hard, you'll be dying more times than you can count.
05:45Thankfully, you're equipped with a magical talisman that can resurrect you,
05:48though it increases your age on every use.
05:50However, as you'll find out, this isn't the only enchanted talisman the game has to offer.
05:54If you spare the five main bosses who killed your dad rather than kill them when stunned,
05:58they'll each reward you with another talisman,
06:01designed to be something Sifu realises after pursuing a path of vengeance first,
06:05showing Mercy is purposefully only achievable by training harder to survive in these fights even longer.
06:10Instead of attacking the bosses outright, you'll need to focus on breaking their defence.
06:14When your opponent is stunned, you'll have the opportunity to perform a takedown,
06:18but allow them to recover and break their will once again, and you can trigger a special cutscene instead.
06:23Only by mastering Wude, a more virtuous state of mind gained in-game from getting each boss' talisman,
06:29will you be able to see the game's true ending,
06:31living up to the responsibility of manipulating time to your will in the first place.
06:39Just to really make Sekiro a brutal task to 100%, FromSoftware created four different endings,
06:45all of which can be unlocked by performing a series of frustratingly specific tasks.
06:49Completing the game normally is hard enough,
06:51but if you want to see the purification ending, you'll have your work cut out.
06:55Not only will you need to speak to key characters a certain amount of times
06:59and side with specific people to see this conclusion, but you'll need to have located a unique item.
07:04If you defeat the Great Shinobi Owl on Ashina Castle after remaining loyal to Kuro,
07:09you'll be rewarded with an aromatic branch.
07:11This twig might not seem like much, but it's vital to actually reach this secret boss inside the Lady Butterfly room.
07:17When you defeat him and attain the aromatic flower,
07:20you must offer it and the Divine Dragon's Tears to finally unlock this hidden ending.
07:24The most positively framed in the whole game,
07:26you better believe it ends on a high note after everything you've been through.
07:33Before Elden Ring surprised us with what felt like endless map reveals,
07:37Bloodborne's secret final boss was the jaw-dropper of the 8th generation.
07:41Coming after an already brutally hard game, if you want to face the real adversary pulling the strings,
07:46you need to play through Bloodborne three more times,
07:48picking up an umbilical cord hidden behind precise steps on each save.
07:52Thankfully, you only need to acquire three of the four umbilical cords to face off against the Moon Presence.
07:57If you thought obliterating this behemoth would answer some lingering questions in the story, though,
08:01that's not the case.
08:03After defeating this monstrosity, the conclusion you get has become legend for being obtuse as hell.
08:08You're reborn into a squid-slash-infant Great One's body,
08:11either being the best thing ever, or it's just incredibly disappointing.
08:15That's up to you.
08:16At number one, the Green Orb, Castlevania Symphony of the Night.
08:20Castlevania Symphony of the Night concludes supposedly with a showdown against Dracula.
08:25If you're a completionist, though, you might be tempted to revisit every room to see if there are any items you missed.
08:30Although most of the random paraphernalia doesn't do anything, there is one relic you have to get.
08:35It's something that only appears for a few seconds during a specific boss fight.
08:38Turns out if you destroy this Green Orb while fighting Richter, you'll gain access to Dracula's inverted castle.
08:44To be clear, this new domain isn't just a few extra rooms.
08:47It's obviously an inverted map, but now with tons of new secrets and a vastness of discovery to get really lost in.
08:53This realisation truly shook players back in the day, since they genuinely believed they'd beaten the game,
08:58when in reality, they were only halfway through.
09:01Every corner of this new environment is filled with new items, enemies, music, and bosses.
09:06Even though it's tempting to pat yourself on the back after conquering Dracula's castle,
09:10you haven't truly played Symphony of the Night until you've completed the inverted second half.
09:14And those are our picks for various hidden video game items that change everything.
