00:00 Hi, my name's Sam, Digital Report for the Lancashire Post and come with me as I go to
00:05 try Tazaj, a new authentic Arabic and Turkish restaurant which has just opened in Oslo Twistle.
00:13 Locals have been giving it great reviews so I wanted to see what it tasted like.
00:18 So I jumped on the next available train to take me to Church in Oslo Twistle station
00:23 and it was just a quick walk around 10 minutes from the station to the actual restaurant.
00:29 Despite being in its infancy, Tazaj has achieved a 5 food hygiene rating as well as being available
00:36 on popular food delivery app Just Eat.
00:39 Whilst the actual shop was small, the decor gave it a homely authentic feel and items
00:45 dotted around the building gave homage to its Arabic and Turkish roots.
00:51 On Tazaj's own social media, they promised to deliver an authentic taste of the Middle
00:56 East with a modern twist so I had high hopes for the food that was about to be served to
01:01 me.
01:02 Upon arrival, I was kindly given a complimentary Turkish tea which was a first for me.
01:08 I'd never had it before so I didn't really know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised.
01:14 It was nice and sweet but kept its heat and you could tell it had been brewed for a while
01:19 using authentic Turkish spices.
01:23 Now onto the menu, I was getting more of a feeling of a fast food place rather than a
01:28 sit down restaurant menu because you had your classic burgers, pizzas and other things but
01:34 it still had authentic meals and that's what I kind of wanted to go for so I went for a
01:40 starter of hummus with bread.
01:42 Now this was okay, I thought the star of the show was definitely the hummus.
01:49 Paired with that tomato and olive oil and a bit of spice on top, that really carried
01:55 the bread throughout.
01:56 I thought the bread was a bit lacking, didn't feel that fresh to me but overall it was a
02:02 solid starter and for £4.90 you couldn't really complain too much with it.
02:11 Now onto the main meal and I decided to go for the biryani meal which came with chicken,
02:16 salad and two sauces.
02:18 Now the two sauces were a chilli sauce and a garlic mayo sauce.
02:23 I thought this was a big step up from the starter.
02:27 As you can see it came out piping hot but the chicken was fresh, it was really juicy
02:31 and paired with the biryani rice I thought it made for a nice combination.
02:36 Now the two sauces were definitely needed to avoid this dish being dry but I think it
02:42 all came together nicely.
02:44 You definitely needed that salad and whilst I'm not a fan of olives myself I could tell
02:50 it was really authentic.
02:52 As you can see I completely cleared my plate so I must have enjoyed it but I still had
02:56 room for a small sweet treat which Tazaj kindly gave me a free piece of small baklava.
03:02 I would definitely recommend Tazaj to anyone in the Heimburn area.
