00:00 The New Day, they are without a doubt one of if not the greatest tag team in WWE history.
00:15 They once achieved the record of becoming the longest reigning tag team champions of
00:20 all time, but perhaps an even bigger achievement is their 12 championship reigns and the fact
00:26 that two members are former WWE champions.
00:30 They're the longest tenured faction in WWE by far at almost 10 years and it's unlikely
00:36 that anybody is going to come close to that ever.
00:39 They were even once the biggest merchandise sellers in WWE in 2016.
00:45 As a tag team, they have done pretty much everything.
00:48 So is it time for them to finally call it quits and end the New Day for good?
00:53 It seems hard to imagine WWE not having the New Day.
00:56 They went from being unbearable good guys to unbearable bad guys to lovable good guys
01:02 and they've never really changed since then.
01:04 As a group, their biggest moment had to be in 2019 when Xavier Woods and Big E pushed
01:10 Kofi Kingston on his road to Wrestlemania, finally fulfilling his destiny by becoming
01:16 WWE champion.
01:18 But since then, the second half of their tenure together has been a bit underwhelming.
01:23 They still won the Raw tag team titles and Big E would go on to become WWE champion in
01:29 2021, another phenomenal feat.
01:32 But once his time as WWE champ was over, WWE took the safe route and just slotted him back
01:38 into a tag team with Kofi Kingston before he suffered the neck injury that has kept
01:43 him out ever since.
01:45 The fact that they had nothing in store for Big E to follow up his championship loss was
01:49 disappointing and kinda sums up how much the New Day lost steam during the pandemic
01:55 and post pandemic era.
01:57 Unfortunately, there's still no sign as to whether Big E will ever return to the ring

02:03 We're going to be optimistic about it and in response to being asked if the New Day
02:06 will be recruiting a new member, Kofi Kingston said it best, "Without either of the three,
02:12 it isn't the New Day.
02:14 Period."
02:15 Nearly a decade into their run together, it makes no sense to add a new member and try
02:20 to recreate the magic from the mid 2010s.
02:23 It's clear that they have taken a back seat to other tag teams, which isn't a bad thing
02:28 because new talent pops up all the time and the New Day has had more than just their time
02:33 under the spotlight.
02:35 Assuming Big E returns, would it really be exciting to see him get placed right back
02:40 in with the New Day?
02:41 Or would you prefer seeing him separated and doing something completely by himself?
02:46 It's obvious what the answer to that is.
02:49 Now that Kofi Kingston has entered the comfortable stage of being a reliable veteran for WWE,
02:54 it's best to use him to propel Xavier Woods to the next level.
02:58 We're not saying that Xavier Woods is going to be the next top star, but it's a chance
03:02 worth taking.
03:04 The WWE universe has been familiar with him for a very long time now and he's proven
03:09 that he can hang with the best in the ring.
03:11 But to take it to the next level, he's going to have to come up with something completely
03:15 different and show a side of himself that we've never seen before.
03:20 This isn't to say that the New Day needs to break up tomorrow, it's an opportunity
03:25 to tell a story over the course of several months, culminating around the 10th anniversary
03:30 of their debut in November of 2024.
03:33 The good part about all this is that WWE can take two routes with the breakup.
03:38 They can either go the classic route of having a member betray the other and begin a new
03:43 character, or they could do a bittersweet type of breakup where they all part ways by
03:48 mutual consent.
03:50 The second option is something that rarely ever happens, but the first option can help
03:54 establish a brand new chapter in a career of a star like Xavier Woods.
03:59 Even if Big E isn't cleared, he can still return to add importance to the story being
04:04 told as the New Day comes to an end.
04:07 Ultimately, the New Day are first ballot future hall of famers who have done it all and won
04:13 it all, and that ladies and gentlemen, is exactly why they need to split and begin a
04:19 new chapter in their careers.
