00:41A Derbyshire ex-miner who told his family to just stick him in a dumper truck after
00:46he died has had his final wish come true.
00:49Dave Newton, who is 81 from Whitwell, started joking that he wanted to have his coffin carried
00:53by the vehicle when he started planning his funeral around 12 years ago.
00:57When he died on March 20th this year, his family decided that it was only fitting for
01:02his coffin to be carried to and from the service in a dumper truck.
01:06His son-in-law, Phil Cooper, 56, said it started off as a joke, but then the dad of three started
01:11mentioning it on more than one occasion.
01:13Phil, who is from Chesterfield, said,
01:15Dave had been deciding how he wanted his funeral to be and chosen Undertakers that was also
01:20a building business.
01:21He had some work on his bungalow, so he had the dumper truck around before and when he
01:25was deciding what cars to have at the funeral, he just said that they could stick him in
01:28the dumper truck and it stuck from there.
01:30He mentioned it on more than one occasion and would mention it to the Undertakers too.
01:34It was only fitting that we made sure that it happened.
