We ask Londoners if enough is being done to protect the environment in the capital.

00:00 Millions of people across the globe are gathering to mark Earth Day and celebrate the environmental
00:06 movement. The event began in 1970 in the United States and is now marked around the world.
00:13 But today Earth Day is known as a global event which aims to highlight the importance of
00:18 protecting the environment, which begs the question, are we doing enough in London?
00:23 Do you think the City of London is, do you think we're doing enough to try and prevent
00:30 climate change in the capital?
00:31 I mean, probably not really to be honest. A bit of a double edged sword, yes and no.
00:38 I know a lot of companies now, they're going green and trying to reduce their carbon footprint
00:43 and comply by all the SDG rules and all that sort of stuff. So we are trying as a whole
00:48 but maybe not so much the individual, like even just the minor things like littering,
00:53 stuff like that. Doing, you know, starts with the man in the mirror sort of thing.
00:58 I don't think so. I mean, I don't know, basically public transportation is a huge thing in here
01:04 so I feel like that kind of helps because like, of course there are a lot of people,
01:09 it's a big city, like people are driving cars and stuff but also that has more, you have
01:12 to pay more for that. I think that puts people on more of the edge of using public transportation
01:19 more and it's, in my opinion, it's easier to use around, it's easier to get around.
01:23 But other than that, I think one of the huge issues in the city is just the trash bins.
01:28 I don't see them quite often, a lot, like I don't see them at all. Where I'm from, you
01:33 can see trash bins right there, right there, right there. So it's easy to throw your trash
01:37 out instead of like throw your trash on the streets. So that's what they do in my opinion.
01:43 I don't have a car and I don't like driving and it's an issue driving as well. Our car
01:47 drivers always seem to push back on anything that's, even though you, if you ask someone
01:52 like, "Is this a good idea?" People go, "Yes." As long as it doesn't impact them, that seems
01:58 to be the issue, doesn't it, really.
