00:00With Women in Red we wanted to focus our attention on women, women with rare diseases, women caregivers.
00:10This is important from our point of view since the UN Resolution on the Rights of People with Rare Diseases,
00:17which specifically underlines the role of women.
00:20We know that women in general have fewer opportunities and chances than men,
00:25but this research highlights how there is actually a lot to work on, both for women and for caregivers.
00:32The White Book has the privilege and the privilege of highlighting data on rare diseases,
00:37structured in an orderly and scientific way.
00:40Until now we did not have enough and sufficient information to be able to delimit this plan
00:47and therefore, after the White Book, we can try to understand, with the policy,
00:52where to go to influence in order to improve the quality of life of these people.
00:58Women are the ones who sacrifice the most.
01:00If they are sick, they are forced to leave work, to reduce their work activity due to the weight of the disease.
01:07If they are caregivers, it is assumed that they are the ones who have to take care of the person with the rare disease
01:14and therefore, again, to leave work and reduce their work activity.
01:18I believe that this system that we are measuring and that we are trying to invent,
01:25in order to find optimal solutions, must be observed carefully,
01:31precisely because it is not correct for women to pay for all this.
