Here is an update on the Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals
Transcript
00:00We are heading into the final week of the NFL preseason and joining me now with some
00:05updates from around the league are our Fan Nation publishers, James Rapine from All Bangles
00:10and John Nakaroon from All Lions.
00:12James, let's start with you.
00:14The big news coming out of Bangles camp today is that Jesse Bates has reported for camp.
00:19He's back after the holdout that most anticipated would end by the start of the regular season.
00:27He comes back a few weeks prior to the start of the regular season and I think that's pretty
00:30big Claudette because he can get acclimated with Bax Hill, get acclimated with a lot of
00:36new members, rookies in this Bangles secondary that he's going to have to gel with and get
00:42into game shape.
00:44So when September 11th rolls around, he can play a full allotment of snaps because that
00:49was the concern.
00:50If he had reported for week one on say September 4th, would he be able to play a full game?
00:56I'm not sure.
00:57Now, I think that expectation is much, much different and this Bangles secondary has all
01:02of the pieces that it was anticipating having going into the 2022 campaign.
01:08Over to Detroit.
01:10Today we found out that wide receiver rookie Jamison Williams will be out for the first
01:15four games of the season.
01:16John, what can you tell us about this?
01:19Yeah, Claudette, the Detroit Lions have stayed at all offseason.
01:22They wanted to take things slow with the number 12 overall pick coming off of a severe
01:26leg injury, an ACL injury that he suffered in the college football national playoffs.
01:31Now Jamison Williams officially, as a result of the roster cutdowns, has been put on the
01:35NFL's reserve list, meaning that he has to miss the first four games.
01:40And by and large, Claudette, I think it's the wise move.
01:42When you have this large of an investment in a player, a very speedy wide out who could
01:46potentially be very explosive, hearing that he was really on the top of a lot of teams
01:51draft boards, the Lions really want to take things slow.
01:54They want to limit the risk of re-injury.
01:56And the talk here in Detroit is that potentially that Jamison Williams won't debut until after
02:02Detroit's bye week, which is in week six.
02:04So really, Claudette, the Lions are taking things slow with a top pick, but I think it's
02:08the wise move.
