Pac-12 Announces Conference-Only Schedule With Sept. 26 Start

00:01 The Pac-12 released its 10-game conference-only schedule for the 2020 football season on Friday.

00:07 Joining me now for more on this from Husky Maven is Dan Raley.

00:11 Dan, the Pac-12 was one of the first leagues to announce that it was moving to a conference-only

00:16 schedule following the Big 10's lead earlier.

00:19 Obviously, a lot of question marks around what the season might look like.

00:23 What do you think we can expect to see?

00:25 Well, I don't think we'll see full seasons anywhere.

00:28 Everybody in college football, including the Pac-12, has a baseline schedule now of 10

00:34 or 11 games.

00:35 This is kind of like World War II, where the virus is going to dictate how many games are

00:40 played and there's built-in buys, there's all kinds of safeguards, but I don't think

00:48 we'll see 10 games out of any of these teams because some won't be able to play.

00:54 So what do you think will happen in that regard?

00:57 Do you think we'll see a postponement?

00:59 Right now in baseball, we're seeing hopefully things are being postponed later.

01:02 Is there another plan that we don't know about the Pac-12 might be working towards?

01:07 Well, the commissioner of the Pac-12, Larry Scott, hinted that if some of the Pac-12 teams

01:14 can't play, others might branch out and schedule some non-conference games, which we saw that

01:20 were eliminated initially, but that might be a backup if people are just looking for

01:24 games.

01:25 But this is a real unknown right now.

01:30 It's almost like World War II.

01:31 You don't know how many players are going to get called up to the military or get called

01:34 away by the virus.

01:35 So anything goes.

01:37 It's kind of the Wild West.

01:38 All we can do is hope that we get a college football season and everyone stays healthy.
