Expectations for Titans QB Malik Willis
Transcript
00:00According to reports, the Seattle Seahawks passed on Liberty quarterback Malik Willis before he was
00:04taken at number 86 overall because they felt he was not an NFL-ready quarterback. Hey everyone,
00:11I'm Claudette Montana-Pattison with SI right now, joined by the NFL DraftBible's Rick Serratella.
00:17Rick, do you think Malik Willis has the potential to be a gamer in the NFL? And if so,
00:21what are your expectations for him moving forward? Malik Willis will be ready when the time comes. I
00:26think he needs some developmental and grooming at the next level. However, he's got a whole higher
00:32ceiling than Ryan Tannehill who can steer the ship. But in the NFL, we need guys who can win
00:37ballgames, and that's what Malik Willis is capable of doing. You mentioned that he has a lot of
00:43growing to do in the NFL. What parts of his game need to further develop for him to be an NFL-ready
00:48quarterback? Yeah, well, he's going to have to first of all learn the complexity of an NFL
00:53offensive playbook, stick his nose into that, be in the film room, be a sponge, absorb,
00:59learn to go through those progressions, make the smart decisions, improve that accuracy
01:03by being a student of the game. We all know he can make all the throws. He can throw it 70 yards
01:08on the superfly, but you've got to be able to do it under duress and in a consistent fashion,
01:15and that all comes with experience, game reps, and learning like a student. So I think he can do it.
