Duke and NC State play for the first time since 2013. David Cutcliffe said there are only so many games with little or no travel that the rest of the ACC will let teams play.

00:00 >> Well, yeah, I think that's a great thing, but at the same time,
00:04 it's not really something that you can do from an ACC standpoint when you have 14
00:09 teams and divisions, they're not gonna let us, we're gonna play,
00:14 we have wake every year, we have North Carolina, which is in our division.
00:19 I don't think they're gonna let us both not have a travel opportunity,
00:22 the rest of the league would probably throw their hands up on that one.
00:26 But I said this earlier today talking with someone, with the midst of what we're in,
00:32 we have no idea what next year is gonna look like.
00:35 We may be playing nine or ten conference games every year.
00:39 That may be what TV wants to see.
00:42 So in that environment, it would likely have a better chance of happening.
00:46 Well, obviously, I think fans is probably where it falls.
00:51 I think fans would love to see that old fashioned rivalry
00:55 where we've been around in the ACC forever, but football has changed.
01:01 And so as I said, the cons would be the rest of the league would be pretty
01:06 upset that if we had the proximity games that we have,
01:11 we have Virginia, Virginia Tech in our division.
01:14 And then if you were playing NC State, Carolina and Wake,
01:18 they would just view that as a negative if you're in Louisville or you're Syracuse or
01:23 your Miami or any other of the number of teams in our league.
