Chase Brice threw three interceptions in Duke's loss to NC State, but David Cutcliffe didn't blame him. "I thought he played terrific" he said, breaking down the three picks.

00:00Well, as I mentioned about Chase, I thought he played terrific.
00:05Those interceptions really weren't forces, part of it was good coverage.
00:10I took a risk on a call on the last one that I talked to him about and
00:15he tried to hammer it in and it was a little bit desperate.
00:19And I told him, I said, guy made a great play, their guy made a great play.
00:26He gets hit, one goes up in the air.
00:29I probably went to the well too much with our max protection.
00:32We could have picked it up, but he's just trying to compete.
00:36He can't do anything about that one.
00:38And then the first one, he probably held on to it and
00:41over competed a little bit.
00:43But I'd rather have one over compete than under compete.
00:46And I thought he made strides tonight to make himself a better quarterback,
00:51without a doubt.
00:52Now, commented on Chase, what was the other part of it?
00:56Yeah, it's always a challenge of momentum.
01:00When you score touchdowns inside the red zone,
01:03that builds momentum obviously, and it is a challenge.
01:08And it's one that you have to address.
01:10But again, that's part of your job as a coach.
01:13Also, when the game or breaks go against you, you don't let up.
01:17You got to put on more steam.
01:19And again, I didn't think the effort, the energy was any way a problem with
01:24our offensive football team or defensive team.
01:28We've got to continue to look at what our guys do best,
01:33is what we've got to put them into the mode of doing.
