Duke and NC State meet for the first time since 2013. Dave Doeren thinks the Wolfpack and Blue Devils should play more often.

00:00 Well, I think, you know, just in general,
00:02 you'd like for every recruiting class
00:04 to have a chance to play every team in the league.
00:07 And, you know, the way our rotation is set up currently,
00:10 we play UNC, as you know, every year,
00:12 and then we'll play one of the other teams every seven years.
00:16 And so I just don't think that's fair,
00:18 not just because they're down the street,
00:20 but you come to play in the ACC, you should play every team.
00:23 I mean, it'd be great if you could play home
00:25 and away against every team,
00:28 particularly when you're talking about a team
00:29 in the triangle, I mean, it's pretty crazy to think
00:31 that you could come to NC State
00:33 and never play Duke your entire career,
00:34 and that's happened for multiple players.
00:38 So I'm excited that we get to play them
00:40 and look forward to being a part of a game
00:42 that goes so far back.
00:43 And, you know, I don't know if they'll ever change
00:45 our scheduling model, but I would definitely be
00:47 somebody pounding on the table for them to do that.
00:50 Well, I mean, it's a natural rivalry.
00:52 I mean, you have a team that's within 30 minutes.
00:54 We go in every grocery store, and you see NC State,
00:57 you see Duke, you see UNC.
00:59 There's stuff everywhere, and yet we don't play them.
01:02 You know, so to me, it's just a natural rivalry game.
01:05 It makes sense geographically to play a team
01:07 that's that close to you in your own league.
01:10 So it's kind of a common-sense deal, in my opinion.
