00:00 >> He looks very good.
00:02 He's in great shape.
00:03 You can tell he worked extremely hard over the quarantine.
00:06 He's smart.
00:08 He's very cerebral.
00:10 He's doing a good job.
00:10 He's practicing at a high level.
00:12 You would never know he was hurt from watching him practice every day.
00:15 You know, they've all worked really, really hard.
00:18 You know, we have Tony Davis and Ken Terrain, who are both young guys, but
00:21 they've both done a really, really well job of stepping up and working extremely hard.
00:26 And I think they'll be able to help us this year.
00:28 >> I would think that we would play fast, physical.
00:31 We would not beat ourselves.
00:33 We'll be a group that makes plays, and is always around the ball.
00:38 I hope that the number one aspect that you would see of a group that coached by me is
00:42 that they play with extreme effort.
00:43 And that's what I've tried to get across to the guys,
00:45 that we've got to play with great effort each and every snap.
00:48 And that's something that I've took a lot of pride in throughout my career.
00:54 And I expect to see that again this year out of this group.
00:57 >> It's what you are first as a teacher, as a coach.
00:58 You've got to be able to teach and make the complex simple.
01:02 And that's part of what I think I have a gift of doing, hopefully.
01:07 And these guys are smart guys, obviously.
01:09 We're at Duke University.
01:11 And so they've been able to catch on quickly and they're adapting.
01:14 We didn't have spring ball.
01:15 We only had three days of spring.
01:16 So we had a lot of Zoom meetings and things like that over the summer.
01:21 So that was different, but these guys have adapted well and
01:24 they're taken to the coaching or the teaching.
01:27 And they're quick learners.
01:29 He may have meant that, you'd have to ask him, but I would assume he meant that
01:34 we do the same thing over and over and we just try to get good at what we do.
01:42 That's what I would take from that is that we have a system that we run here and
01:46 we try to execute it to the highest of our ability.
01:50 And it's alignment, assignment, effort, and then execution.
01:54 So we try to execute at a high level instead of always trying to do a bunch of
01:58 different things.
01:59 Just try to do what we do to the best of our ability and do it very, very well.
02:02 It's been awesome.
02:03 I met Coach Guerrero a couple years ago, I guess 2018.
02:07 He came down to Tulane and clinic with our staff.
02:10 And he sat in in the meetings with me and we kind of hit it off then and
02:13 we've stayed in contact ever since then.
02:15 And it was part of the reason I came here was the opportunity to work
02:17 along beside him and just learn from him.
02:21 He's got great ideas and I've kind of given him some ideas of things that we did
02:25 in the past.
02:26 And it's been a great working relationship.
02:28 He's a great leader.
02:29 He loves the kids.
02:31 He has some of the same core values that I have.
02:34 So it's been phenomenal, honestly.
