00:00A little quick game here, scale of 1 to 10, 10 meaning outstanding for the league.
00:05Notre Dame winning the ACC championship, what would that mean for the league?
00:12I don't think it would be that great for the league to be honest with you.
00:14Now having them in the championship game, yes.
00:16Getting throttled by Clemson, that would be the ultimate John Swofford's
00:21dream to walk out the door, drop the mic.
00:23But I don't necessarily think that you want Notre Dame,
00:26especially without that patch on there, to win the conference championship and
00:31to take that spot in the playoff.
00:33I think that they would prefer that not happen.
00:36John?
00:37The ACC often gets criticized when Clemson's going for the title for
00:42their schedule, and how Clemson has such an easy path to the playoff.
00:46For Notre Dame to walk in here in the first year and
00:48win that championship, I think would just underscore what everybody else has
00:52been saying.
00:53So yeah, I think it would be, I would say two or
00:54three as far as a scale of one to ten.
00:57How about Notre Dame goes five and five in the league, scale of one to ten, Brett?
01:03Ten, because like Sean was saying, this would definitely reinforce the fact that,
01:08hey, we got a bad rap, we're a lot better than you think we are.
01:11And it's not gonna happen, but
01:15I mean, it would definitely be a victory for the ACC.
01:19Sean?
01:20I think it would hurt the chances of getting Notre Dame as a permanent member
01:23in the near future.
01:24So I would say seven or eight as far as ten, but
01:27as far as from an ACC standpoint, it would definitely be a ten.
01:30Okay, zero to one to ten.
01:33How about the fact that Notre Dame is in the league this year?
01:36There's a ten game schedule.
01:37Everything that we learned today, scale one to ten, Brett.
01:42I think ten.
01:43I think it's very cool.
01:44It gives us something to think about.
01:46It gives us something to talk about.
01:48It's different.
01:49And it's different in a better way than putting a runner on second to start
01:52extra innings.
01:53And so I like it, but I'm also very skeptical because
01:59just because they've decided that this is the way they're gonna proceed,
02:02it doesn't guarantee they're actually gonna be able to do it.
02:07The curve of this thing is not going in the right direction,
02:10especially in states that have ACC schools.
02:12And so there's still a lot of things that can happen between now and
02:16those first games.
02:18Mr. Crest?
02:19That curve has been going that way for months.
02:22And for the last couple of months, I know personally,
02:25I've been preparing myself more and more for the possibility of no football.
02:30And then starting last week when these rumors of the ten plus one model started
02:33to be floated out there, that gave me hope for the first time in a long time.
02:38So I think this is a very positive thing.
02:40It's very exciting.
02:41Even if it doesn't happen, I feel like this is a very positive in the world of
02:45sports to have this hope for the first time in a long time.
02:49Notre Dame winning the championship would be a one.
02:52I think it'd be terrible for the league for the reason you guys articulated,
02:55certainly that Sean hit on.
02:56I think Notre Dame going five and five.
02:57I'm gonna side with Sean on this.
02:59Because if you're asking them to stick their foot in your pool,
03:04you want them to like being in your pool so they come back.
03:07So I'm gonna go with Sean on that one.
03:09And today was an absolute ten.
03:11If we could go 11 or 12, I'd go 11 or 12 because it was awesome.
03:14We got something that occurred today that we can all talk about.
03:18That hasn't really happened in four months, four and a half months.
