North Carolina had a history-making offensive explosion and a school record comeback against Wake Forest. Mack Brown discusses the big day
Transcript
00:00 Yeah, number one, what a great game.
00:03 It's a college football special.
00:05 And the guys on both teams fought their entire hearts out
00:10 and worked really hard, give Wake Forest credit.
00:13 Number one, they scored a bunch of points on us,
00:16 and then when we came back and went ahead,
00:20 they came right back and gave themselves a chance
00:22 to win at the end of the ballgame.
00:24 But for a year and more than a half here,
00:29 we've come back and not won and come back and not won
00:31 and come back and not won.
00:33 So this is a huge step forward for us,
00:35 that we can play a game
00:37 where we didn't play well on defense in the first half,
00:40 made some adjustments, came back out
00:42 and played much better on the second half
00:43 and had one of the best offensive performances
00:47 that I've ever been around.
00:49 We get mad at them now when there is a stop.
00:51 That's how good they've been.
00:53 So really, really proud of these guys.
00:55 I thought we took a huge step forward today
00:58 because we didn't come close.
01:00 We didn't lose and talk about it within five
01:02 or within seven or within three.
01:05 We actually won, and that's something
01:07 that we hadn't been doing.
01:08 I thought the biggest difference in the first half
01:10 and the second half defensively for us was third down.
01:14 We could not get off the field on third downs
01:16 in the first half.
01:18 And in the second half, I think we had four or five,
01:22 three and outs, and did a tremendous job.
01:25 We also left some turnovers on the field.
01:28 We had our hands on a couple of balls
01:30 that we should have gotten,
01:32 and we've got to do a better job of intercepting the balls.
