Transcript
00:00All right, Chas, first question is coming from Dina King.
00:06Dina, go ahead.
00:07Hey, Chas, congrats on the win.
00:10You guys gave up six points, about 200 yards today.
00:15What's your opinion on y'all's performance today?
00:20Played pretty good on the defensive side of the ball.
00:24I'm really just proud of how we played.
00:26We got put in some tough spots,
00:28them being on our side of the field a few times,
00:32and we were able to hold them out.
00:34So I'm really proud and happy with how we played on defense.
00:38And how happy are you just to be on the field
00:41first game this year?
00:43I think this was probably the most excited
00:44I've been for a game dating back to when I was a little kid,
00:49just not knowing if we were going to play or not this year
00:51and getting the opportunity to go out there
00:53and play with the guys I have so much respect for
00:56and was looking forward to play with.
00:58I think that meant a lot.
01:00Thank you.
01:02All right, let's go over to Mike Toper.
01:04Mike, go ahead.
01:07Hey, Chas, congrats on the win, man.
01:09I wanted to ask you, what was it like being out there
01:12in big moments, for example, when you get a sack or a big stop
01:15and not having the crowd noise
01:17or kind of the student section cheering you on
01:19and everybody in the stands like you normally would?
01:21What was that like?
01:24Not having the fans out there, but the thing we just preached
01:27was trying to play off each other throughout the game,
01:30playing if somebody makes a big play,
01:32you know, the rest of the guys are there to celebrate with them
01:34to get the juice going.
01:36I think we did a pretty good job at that,
01:38but I think we can be better as far as that aspect, you know.
01:41I think now that we didn't really know what to expect
01:43going in, but I think now we have a good grasp
01:46of how game day is going to be.
01:51Okay, let's go over to Jacob Turner.
01:53Jacob, go ahead.
01:56Chaz, you guys had seven sacks, 11 tackles for loss today.
02:00What made the pass rush so successful today?
02:04I just think the people we got up front,
02:06Tamari, Tamon, Ray, me and Kimmel can both blitz
02:10and, you know, Hop can come off the edge.
02:12I think just the personnel and the way,
02:14you know, Coach Bateman utilizes us.
02:15And then, as well, our secondary is really good.
02:21Really, really good, so they kind of buy time for us
02:24to go get back there and make plays on the quarterback.
02:27I think a combination of that is what led
02:29to that many of those sacks today.
02:33All right, next up, Luke Buxton.
02:35Luke, go ahead.
02:37Chaz, I was wondering what happened on the first half play
02:40when you got banged up early in the game.
02:44Yeah, I was dropping, going two to three,
02:47and I tried to make a play on the ball,
02:49and I just got the breath knocked out of me.
02:51It took me, like, a second to get back,
02:53but they wanted me to come out for a play,
02:54so I came out, and I wasn't good to go the next play,
02:57so I ran back out there.
03:01Okay, Bridget Condon. Bridget, go ahead.
03:04Hey, Chaz, Coach Brown said
03:07that some parents were there of seniors.
03:09I was just wondering if your parents were able to come today,
03:12and I'll just wait until they were there.
03:15Yeah, both my parents were there today,
03:17so I was happy to see them out there.
03:20Yeah, what does it mean to be able to have them,
03:21but then on the flip side of that,
03:22a lot of your teammates' parents weren't allowed to be there?
03:26Yeah, I mean, for me,
03:28personally, to have them out there and be able to see them,
03:30I know they haven't missed any of my games growing up.
03:33I know a lot of the guys weren't their parents there,
03:35so I know Coach Brown is working on
03:37trying to get that going really hard,
03:39so hopefully, you know, the next game,
03:41our parents can be there.
03:42That's what we're hoping for.
03:45All right, last one for Chaz is Ross Martin.
03:49Ross, go ahead.
03:50Hey, Chaz.
03:51The defense was the strength of the team today
03:53and definitely the most consistent factor
03:55throughout the game.
03:56I mean, how good can this defense be for UNC
04:00if y'all are trying to reach your goals
04:01with how good the offense potentially could be?
04:05I think our defense is really good.
04:06I think a lot of people talked about
04:08our offense scoring in the year, so coming into the game,
04:10we kind of took a chip on our shoulder going in,
04:12knowing the kind of guys we got playing
04:14on the defensive side of the ball.
04:16So I'm just really glad we played
04:19how we were supposed to play.
04:20I think we can be really good on defense.
04:22We got a lot of really good guys up front and in the back end.
04:25I think the sky's the limit for our defense.
04:28All right, thanks, man.
04:29No problem.
04:30Okay, Chaz, thanks so much for your time.
04:32Thank you, y'all.
