There were a lot of moving parts during Ty Lawson's rant but he wasn't the only one who was wrong.

00:00going. All right, so now whenever I ask David questions concerning the Carolina program,
00:07I always want to make sure, especially when it's on our podcast, that it never causes
00:13any friction with him and any of his teammates, his brothers, his family, or the program whatsoever.
00:21So we're going to kind of walk a really tight rope with this, but yesterday Ty Lawson had a
00:29few choice words and the post has since been deleted, but just from a, I don't even know,
00:41you can do it from a player perspective or if you want to do it from someone who knows Ty Lawson,
00:46what did you think yesterday and what was your immediate reaction? Honestly, when I saw the post,
00:55so my manager was sent it to me first and then you sent it to me and then I, but I got both of
01:01them at the same time, but I was, I was, I was a little confused at first. Cause I thought,
01:05I thought something happened like, like right now, like something had just happened to, for
01:11all of that to blow up. So, you know, I made a couple of calls ASAP. I'm like, yo, what's going
01:15on? Like, what, what happened? Like, what, what is this? And you know, and again, not to put too
01:22much out there. Again, I don't, I don't have all of the answers. All I will say is everybody's
01:28experience at the university of North Carolina is different. Everybody's interaction with coach
01:34Williams is different. It's the same thing that we said about Rashad McCance on episode two in
01:39season one. It's the same exact thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I remember that. But my point is
01:48like everybody's experience is different. And it doesn't make them right or wrong. It's just,
01:54it's different. So for Todd to put that out there, he had to be feeling a certain type of way. He had
01:59to be feeling emotional at the time. And he had to get it off his chest, whatever that was. Now,
02:05whatever that is, that's between him and coach Williams. I'm sure they'll, they'll talk about
02:10it. They'll, they'll dig the situation if it's possible. I don't know. I don't know. But my,
02:15what I will say from a, from a player's perspective, just like Rashad, I think you
02:22could have handled it a little bit differently in this age of social media and all that kind of
02:26stuff. We're quick to be behind our thumbs. Everybody's bold behind their thumbs. We let
02:31our thumbs speak for us. And then we got to deal with the consequences of those actions and those
02:35words. And now it's, it's, we like, it's all on my timeline. I'm talking about ESPN. I picked it up.
02:43Everybody's picked it up. So now it's, it's something that we really have to deal with.
02:47And now again, will that cost us in recruiting and will that cause, you know what I'm saying?
02:51There's so many things that, that, you know, former players speaking out again, if you're,
02:56even if you're like me, my time in North Carolina, it was great. It was great. Do I have my hiccups
03:02with North Carolina? Absolutely. Everybody does. Every, every single player does. No,
03:06no player has come through that program and it's been perfect for them. But at the same time,
03:11I respect the program. I respect what they've done for me. I respect what I did for it.
03:15And I, and I'll never try to tarnish that. So, and you know, and relationships aren't always the
03:21same, again, between whether it's me and coach Williams or me and coach Robinson or me, a former
03:28player is those, those are just the things that, that, that happened. And most of the time you
03:32try to keep that stuff in house. But at the end of the day, I think Ty, I think he reacted off
03:38emotion. I'm, I'm, since he deleted it, I'm assuming that, you know, it, it, he, he feels
03:44differently about it now. And then hopefully again, him and coach Williams can sit down
03:49and talk about it and top it up and get that thing resolved.
