00:04 Shaquille O'Neal and others have said any resumed NBA season
00:07 would have an asterisk next to it.
00:09 I have a question.
00:10 Why?
00:11 Because not only do I disagree,
00:13 but I believe a championship this season
00:15 could have even more meaning.
00:17 Mind you, I'm not talking about safety concerns
00:19 or logistics here.
00:20 That's a separate conversation,
00:22 and obviously an important one.
00:24 However, when it comes to actual competition,
00:27 everyone is disadvantaged.
00:28 And I don't know who will be hurt or benefit
00:31 from having to quickly ramp up
00:32 following a break in action with play halted.
00:34 Sure, circumstances could be slightly different for some,
00:38 but for the most part, all teams, like all of us,
00:41 are dealing with the same things.
00:43 Just because a few might get into gyms a little earlier
00:45 and separated from teammates
00:47 doesn't mean we should throw away the whole thing.
00:49 It's also not as if the league hasn't given out rings
00:51 in different sort of seasons before.
00:54 I don't believe anyone wants to take one from Tim Duncan
00:56 because he and the Spurs won in a lockout-shortened year
00:59 in 1999.
01:00 Same goes for the Heat in 2012,
01:02 and that was LeBron's first one.
01:04 If the season isn't canceled,
01:06 we certainly shouldn't cancel the championship.
01:09 Are we so miserable that we would already sully something
01:12 that could bring solace?
01:13 Because as I said, I think any potential ring this season
01:17 might have extra meaning,
01:19 and the idea of an asterisk is kind of asinine.
