Best takeaways from "The Last Dance"
Transcript
00:00 The last dance is over, sadly,
00:02 but what were our takeaways from the last episodes?
00:05 For more, I'm joined by RSI writer, Ben Pickman.
00:09 Ben, you know, to me, these focused on basketball
00:11 and memories that I actually have
00:13 watching those Pacers series, that Pacers series,
00:15 those Jazz series.
00:17 What was your biggest takeaway?
00:18 - Yeah, I mean, I think I'm with you, Robin,
00:20 that it's the basketball parts of these final episodes
00:22 that really jumped out, right?
00:23 You compare episodes nine and 10 with episodes seven and eight
00:27 and you see some stark contrast, right?
00:29 Episodes seven and eight,
00:30 a much more emotional set of episodes, right?
00:33 You have Michael Jordan getting emotional
00:34 at the end of episode seven, even asking for a break.
00:37 And think about the end of episode eight for a second,
00:39 where you see Jordan lying on the floor
00:41 of the locker room in tears, right?
00:43 In episode nine and 10,
00:44 you have a few emotional digressions, yes.
00:47 You have a story about Steve Kerr and his father
00:50 and you have a security guard, Gus Light,
00:52 but it is those basketball moments, right?
00:54 Overcoming the Pacers, the series with the Jazz,
00:57 the Brian Russell shot in game six of 1988 in that series,
01:01 right?
01:02 Those are the moments that jump out to me
01:03 from those last two episodes,
01:04 those iconic moments in Jordan's career,
01:07 his final encore moments that really stuck out.
01:09 - I also have to give a nod to Dennis Rodman
01:11 joining the NWO in the midst of the NBA finals.
01:14 I can't believe that hasn't been a bigger deal
01:16 in like the lore of all this,
01:18 because if it happened today,
01:20 it would lead to a hot take factory.
01:22 And anybody who came up in the nineties
01:24 understands how big a moment that is
01:27 to walk out there with the NWO.
01:29 So there's only one Dennis Rodman as well.
