00:00 Michael Jordan, Jordan Brand, and Nike will donate $100 million to racial equality.
00:05 I'm Corey Parson with SI.com.
00:06 Joining me for more on this story is Carolina Tall Hill insider, Kiera Luck.
00:12 Kiera, what exactly is going on down there with this story?
00:15 Hi, Corey.
00:17 So Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand and Nike have committed to $100 million over the next
00:22 10 years to help fight racial injustice and provide economic equality to the black community.
00:29 Now, we've seen ESPN's presentation of The Last Dance recently, and a lot was talked
00:34 about Michael Jordan in those times.
00:36 Let me ask you this, what else has Michael Jordan been doing post-retirement?
00:41 So he has been really huge in the North Carolina community, especially with him being the head
00:47 of the Charlotte Hornets.
00:48 So just recently, a couple years ago, Carolina has a really tough hurricane season sometimes,
00:53 and he donated $2 million to families in Wilmington, as well as fed them Thanksgiving dinner, and
01:00 he went back to the Boys and Girls Club that he grew up in and gave them Jordan Brand shoes.
01:06 A couple of weeks before that, actually, he also gave $7 million to at-risk medical clinics
01:14 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
01:16 Charlotte happens to be one of the top cities that kind of keep kids, if they grow up poor,
01:23 they kind of end up that way.
01:24 So he wanted to help kind of change that narrative for those communities in Charlotte.
01:28 Thanks a lot, Kierra.
