00:00 We'll start with Dan Rubin.
00:02 Mike, I've been asking everyone so far, I noticed yesterday the face shields that you
00:09 guys are using on your masks, on your face masks on the lower half too.
00:14 What was your first impression of those and just how has it been working with those the
00:18 first couple days?
00:19 Well, the first time I put it on, I kind of thought it was going to be like, "Whoa, I
00:23 don't know how we're going to use these."
00:25 But as we got out there and we got running around, it's actually, it's not as bad as
00:29 you originally thought.
00:30 And eventually as you get through practice, you kind of forget that it's even there and
00:34 you get used to playing with it.
00:37 So I'd say after the first couple of days, I haven't really had any issues with it and
00:40 I'm getting pretty comfortable with it.
00:43 We'll go next to Andy Baxter.
00:51 Hey Mike, I know you've been with the group for a long time, even back in 2018.
00:56 This was a secondary that a lot of guys that were at least NFL talent or fringe NFL.
01:01 What is your expectations for this group this time around?
01:04 What do you see from you guys in the secondary?
01:07 I think that, like you mentioned, that group was a great group of guys back in 2018.
01:13 It was a pleasure to be around them and learn from them all.
01:16 We've been fortunate to have quite a few guys that are with us now who were young guys around
01:21 that group.
01:22 So we still carry a lot of the same things that those guys taught us.
01:28 Our mantra is kind of just like, why not us?
01:30 Why can't we be the same and try to even be better?
01:35 So I think we're a really hungry group.
01:37 We're a really competitive group.
01:39 And I really like how we're coming together.
01:43 Obviously with the addition of Coach Hafling, Coach Azhar, Coach Turin, they've all been
01:47 great and they've taught us a lot in the little time that we've been able to be around them.
01:51 So I think that we have really high expectations of ourselves and I think that we expect a
01:55 lot from ourselves.
01:56 We'll go next to Dan Rubin.
02:01 Mike, how difficult is it sometimes when you have to unwire an old system to come into
02:09 a new system?
02:10 I know you guys had those first few practices in the spring, but even now through being
02:14 able to work with the new coaches, it's only a second day training camp, but what's that
02:18 like unwiring what you might have already known to learning how to do something new?
02:24 A lot of it has to do with what you do outside of the white lines, like in the meetings,
02:30 even outside of meeting time, you have to kind of, like you said, having to unwire.
02:35 So you have to kind of reteach yourself everything.
02:38 And luckily it's still football, so it's not like you're going from like geometry to social
02:44 studies.
02:45 So it's still kind of the same similar and stuff.
02:48 It's a little difficult, but once you get the hang of it, it's, it comes together pretty
02:52 well and it starts to click, but you just have to spend a lot more time with it than
02:56 you would going from the same system just to a new year.
03:02 We'll go back to Andy.
03:05 Mike Brandon was talking about how it's been interesting going up against an offensive
03:08 scheme that's a bit different, more NFL pro style.
03:11 Would you say the same?
03:12 And does that help you at an individual level too?
03:14 If you want to make that jump to the next level, eventually just to get to see some
03:17 things you might not have usually seen the past few years?
03:21 Yeah, it's definitely been different for sure.
03:23 It's been fun though.
03:24 Definitely.
03:25 You know, it's been, it's been a short time that we've gone up against it, but it's a
03:29 little more challenging in practice because like you said, we've seen some things that
03:32 we haven't seen.
03:34 I think it would definitely help you from an individual standpoint because, you know,
03:39 your goal ultimately is to get to the next level and you'll, you'll see things that are
03:42 similar to it.
03:43 So it'll help you out in terms of, you'll be a little bit more accustomed to what you'll
03:48 be going up against at the next level.
03:50 So I think it'll, it'll definitely help individually.
03:57 Any other questions for Mike?
03:59 All right, Mike, thank you.
