00:00We'll start things off with Dan Rubin.
00:02All right, Piper here.
00:04Bill, you know, four or five days into practice,
00:08you get the, now that you've kind of had an opportunity
00:11to work through getting into pads and stuff like that,
00:13just how's it felt to get built up into this offense
00:17over, you know, doing the situational stuff even
00:20and just getting, you know, more familiar
00:21with how things are going?
00:22It feels great because now we're finally getting
00:25into real football where we're full pads,
00:30we're simulating different scenarios in the game.
00:33So we're really getting into realistic scenarios.
00:36And that's a lot different from in the past
00:39what we've been doing, just throwing with receivers
00:42and walk-throughs.
00:43So we're going full contact and live.
00:47And so it's been as realistic as you can get.
00:52We'll go next to Julian.
00:54What's going on, Finn? How are you?
00:59Hi.
01:00Good. A couple of things.
01:02I'll get them out of the way.
01:03One, did you ever expect to go viral in your life?
01:09No, I got to credit some people on Twitter, BCD,
01:14a lot of people on Twitter and a lot of people
01:18in the BC community for helping that out.
01:22And then just follows.
01:24One, what did you think when you first saw sort of the
01:27blue jerk and then how much of a relief was it
01:29once the process had played out?
01:33At that point, I was frustrated with the process.
01:36I was expecting an answer weeks or months before.
01:42So, you know, there was a little bit of frustration.
01:45And I was glad that people were on my side
01:48that wanted to see at least the NCAA
01:51come out with a decision.
01:52But in the end, they ruled for me.
01:55And so I'm grateful for that.
02:00We'll go next to Trevor.
02:02Hey, how you doing?
02:04Good. How are you?
02:05Good. So I'm just curious from your perspective,
02:07Coach Haffley was obviously pretty emotional
02:08when you got the news
02:10and you found out that you'd be able to play.
02:11So just what was that phone call like with you
02:13and how much has he had your back throughout this whole thing?
02:16Yeah, it was emotional for me, too,
02:18because of just everything that went into it.
02:21Coach Haffley also put so much.
02:25Every day, he was working on it.
02:26So for him, for my parents, for Mr. Craft,
02:32for everybody, it was just a release.
02:36Thanks.
02:39We'll go next to Andy Backstrom.
02:42Hey, Phil.
02:43Coach Haffley told us earlier today
02:44you guys had another weekend of tests,
02:46164 tested, 164 negative tests.
02:50Just with everything going on,
02:51those simple reports of getting back those negative tests,
02:54is that encouraging for you guys as a team
02:56to just know at least you're doing all you can
02:59to keep this season going forward?
03:01It is encouraging.
03:03It shows me that my teammates really care about our team
03:07and what we can do.
03:08It's hard.
03:09It really is hard to go months at a time
03:12without seeing anybody outside of our circle.
03:15So, you know, people have made sacrifices,
03:20and I thank them for that.
03:23We'll go next to AJ Black.
03:25Hey, Phil. How you doing?
03:26Good. How are you? Good.
03:28The schedule came out last week,
03:30and Notre Dame is going to be playing Boston College.
03:32What are your thoughts about playing
03:34your former team this year?
03:37I'm really excited for that.
03:39I know all those guys,
03:40and, you know, we wanted them on the schedule.
03:43I'm glad that they made it happen,
03:45and we look forward to it. Hopefully we can play.
03:49Thank you.
03:51We'll go next to Julian.
03:57One of the big reasons, one of the big things
03:59that kind of brought to you was sort of a relationship
04:02you could develop with Coach Zagnetti,
04:04but how has that played out so far?
04:06Kind of can you describe him for us
04:08and some of the things that you're kind of picking up
04:10from him along the way so far?
04:12His mind's always churning.
04:15All us quarterbacks, we laugh about him.
04:17Like, we'll just randomly be walking,
04:20and he'll blurt out, like,
04:22he just thought of another play or something off of this play.
04:26So his mind's always churning with thoughts,
04:29and he's really been good with telling us,
04:34you know, what he's thinking,
04:35what he wants with the plays.
04:36We've been going through plays,
04:38and we've really learned a ton just in camp so far.
04:42On the flip side, just the room,
04:45the quarterback room itself,
04:46how does that kind of fit in?
04:47How have guys sort of,
04:49no one is obviously still in competition,
04:50but lean on each other.
04:53Obviously, Dennis has experience from last year.
04:55Are you guys talking how much of you guys
04:57develop a relationship? What have you helped with?
04:59I think we're rimming together, so we've become close.
05:05I thank those guys because it's a hard position.
05:09Quarterback coming in, transferring,
05:11you know, it can be awkward.
05:13It can be weird, but they've made it very comfortable for me,
05:16and, you know, they've been cool with it through this quarter.
05:22We'll take two more questions, guys.
05:24First with Dan Rubin, and then with Andy Baxter.
05:29Phil, kind of a quick two-parter.
05:31Based on that BC-Notre Dame rivalry aspect,
05:34because I know you were at Notre Dame
05:36last year when they played BC,
05:38and what was that like for you to see BC on the other side?
05:42It is kind of a good rivalry for us up here in college.
05:45Football is a big one for BC,
05:46and now that you're on the other side,
05:48have you talked to any of you guys
05:49what that was like when they played Notre Dame
05:51and how it might, you know, how your minds kind of shifted now
05:54from both one side to the other?
05:56Yeah, it's weird. I think back on that game a lot
05:58because at that point,
06:00I didn't know any of the Boston College football players.
06:04I think Hugh Davis was the only guy I really knew,
06:08but, yeah, I look back on it,
06:11and I think about those plays and what happened.
06:15And so, yeah, flipping around, it's going to be just –
06:18I just can't wait for it. I hope we can play.
06:19I really – we're all hoping we can play that game.
06:24And we'll wrap things up here with Andy.
06:27Phil, we talked to Brandon Sebastian over the weekend.
06:29He mentioned how you're really good at fitting the ball
06:31in a tight window, especially when the defense
06:33is playing cover two.
06:34Is that something that you pride yourself on,
06:36trusting your arm, fitting that ball,
06:38and you challenge the DBs up in practice?
06:41Yeah, Coach Cignetti's been wanting us
06:45to make the challenging throws, to really test it.
06:47He says it's practice.
06:49We're not – you know, you're throwing to get better,
06:53so you want to try to hit those tight windows.
06:55And I do pride myself on making those kind of throws.
07:01Great, Phil. Thank you for your time.
