00:19 It's Tuesday, April 23rd, I'm Tetris, and this is Billboard News.
00:23 There's a lot going on in hip-hop we need to get through today,
00:26 plus some pretty cool guests, so let's jump in.
00:29 (music)
00:36 Oh snap! Quavo and Chris Brown have been at each other's necks on some diss tracks.
00:41 But is Chris calling it quits? I'm breaking the whole thing down.
00:45 (music)
00:48 It all started on a track "Freak" from Chris' 1111 deluxe,
00:52 where he brings up Quavo f---ing his old b---s,
00:55 referring to Karrueche Tran, someone they have both dated and ignited this entire feud.
01:00 Quavo responded with Tinder.
01:02 (music)
01:09 Of course, Quavo brought up Chris' violence towards Rihanna,
01:12 in which Chris then brought up Quavo's violence towards ex-Sweetie,
01:16 and alludes to sleeping with her on his response track "The Weakest Link,"
01:20 saying Quavo's the weakest member of Migos.
01:23 (music)
01:29 Well, it doesn't stop there. Quavo released a response,
01:32 yes, calling Chris a crackhead Michael Jackson.
01:35 But also using a verse from the late member Takeoff.
01:39 (music)
01:45 But does it end there? Chris responded on social saying,
01:49 "That s--- is poo. Damn, I was excited. That s--- don't even need a response. Takeoff rapped better."
01:56 So, I guess it's over? My brain hurts from trying to keep up.
02:00 I'm gonna clear my head for a sec and keep you posted.
02:03 And if Chris and Quavo don't got you tired, I have more.
02:07 Here's three things you should know in hip-hop.
02:09 If you thought the childish Gambino kid cutting beef was real,
02:12 turns out he's on one of the new songs Gambino teased on Gilga Radio.
02:18 (music)
02:22 "Warlords" isn't the only new track he teased. He also shared "Say Less" featuring Ye.
02:28 (music)
02:33 I'm excited for some new childish Gambino, but why did Don Lemon catch a stray?
02:38 Speaking of catching strays, if you were confused by this sweetie tweet, we've got you covered.
02:43 During the Chris Brown/Quavo feud, Quavo had this to say in his diss track.
02:47 (music)
02:50 Well, sweetie fired back showing an unanswered DM from her ex with the caption,
02:55 "Hopefully the model he turns into me replies."
02:58 All I gotta say is, "Ha! I know that's right!"
03:01 "I know that's right!"
03:03 Mr. Worldwide, Mr. 305, Pitbull is hitting the road. And he's bringing T-Pain with him.
03:09 (music)
03:14 The Party After Dark Tour starts August 21st, and if you go to the Ridgefield or Chula Vista stops,
03:20 you'll get to see Lil Jon, too. I don't think there's ever been a tour that said Tetris more than that.
03:25 Let me go get my tickets, darling!
03:26 And it's pretty cool being the people with the charts, and the people get excited when they make it on.
03:32 Let's run down some happy moments.
03:34 Making the charts is no easy feat, and today a lot of your faves are celebrating their achievement.
03:40 (music)
03:45 Hosea tops the Billboard Hot 100 this week with "Too Sweet," and he's sharing the joy with his fans.
03:51 I'm taken massively by surprise by it, but I just want to say thank you so, so much for your support.
03:57 I'm so thrilled that you're enjoying "Too Sweet."
04:00 Over on the 200, Metro Boomin is celebrating his back-to-back number ones by sharing pics
04:05 of his "We Don't Trust You and We Still Don't Trust You" partner Future and collaborator The Weeknd.
04:11 (music)
04:17 Speaking of The Weeknd, thanks to his collabs on "We Still Don't Trust You," he passes the 100 songs mark
04:23 on the Hot 100, reaching a total of 101.
04:26 He joins the ranks of Drake, T-Swift, Travis Scott, Beyoncé, and JB, to name a few,
04:32 who've all reached 100 hits.
04:34 And someone with their first top 10 on the Hot 100.
04:38 (music)
04:42 Sabrina Carpenter's "Espresso" debuted at number 7.
04:46 Her last song "Feather" peaked at 21.
04:48 She celebrated her new year with a tweet saying, "Why was 6 afraid of 7? Because 7 ate."
04:54 Congrats to all for all the chart achievements. Head to Billboard.com.
04:58 And did you know I was basically a Smith?
05:01 I got to see Will out at Coachella, but even better, we had Willow in studio.
05:06 Hey, this is Willow, and these are 5 things that you didn't know about my new single "Big Feelings."
05:11 (music)
05:18 Number one, I shot the visual at the same place that I shot "Transparent Soul," which is actually really crazy.
05:26 Number two, I made this song with two of my really, really good friends, beautiful musicians,
05:32 Zach Tenorio and Chris Griotti.
05:34 Number three, the composition of the song took a good amount of time.
05:43 Before I could get the lyrics on, before we even did any, you know, thinking about lyrics,
05:48 there was mathematics. It was like that meme, you know what I'm saying, where there's the math.
05:53 And then number four, the idea of "Big Feelings," the song titled "Big Feelings,"
05:59 was in my head for like a week and a half.
06:03 And I had had opportunities to record that song, and every time I had an opportunity,
06:09 I was like, "No, it's not the time. No, it's not the time."
06:12 Number five, "Big Feelings" is my favorite song that I've ever recorded to this date.
06:18 It's the craziest song. The vocals, the specific, you know, the pocket that I'm in,
06:26 and just the composition is, to me, it's just one of the best compositions that I've ever sang on.
06:36 Or, yeah. It's just, I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed it. And peace and love.
06:44 And our door is always open. We also had the Black Keys sit with Lindsay Havens. Check it out.
06:49 That song has Juicy J on it, and then that's the one song that Beck is a featured artist on.
06:58 So, considering how much he did co-write on this album, why was this the one that either he or U2 wanted him to have more of a presence on?
07:04 We let him pick, and that's the one he wanted to.
07:07 Did he say why?
07:08 He didn't say why, but, you know, that was one of the first ones we made with Beck, so he had been living with that for a while.
07:14 His performance on it, too, is pretty quintessential Beck.
07:17 Yeah.
07:18 So, the coolest thing about the Lil Noid collaboration is, like, you know, he was in the studio with us and just, like,
07:25 while we were recording this part, which would have been, you know, spring of last year, he just, like, put the whole thing up on his Instagram.
07:34 And it's been there for a year, and no one has seen it because there's literally zero overlap of our fan base, which I think is, like, amazing.
07:45 April the 5th, I got a project coming out with the Black Keys called 'Candy and Her Friends.' Make sure you support it.
07:50 That's the song I'm most excited for people to hear.
07:52 The song with Juicy J, he sent it back to us, he added his verse and everything, but he added record scratching in the beginning of the song,
08:01 where we never would have thought to do that.
08:04 That's the kind of thing that can happen when you collaborate.
08:11 The full interview is on Billboard's YouTube.
08:14 And that was Tuesday. Come back tomorrow if you want to smell what The Rock is cooking.
08:21 I'm Tetris, and this is Billboard News.
