Buckie manager Graeme Stewart after Aberdeenshire Cup final defeat to Inverurie Locos
Transcript
00:00I mean, look, I'm not disrespectful, I thought, you know, the locals hung in there and showed
00:05that they've probably been working on that shape and working on things for the last month
00:08that we haven't been because we've been going for a league, but I think we dominate the
00:12game, you know, I think we've created all the chances, we dominate possession, I'm delighted
00:16with the performance, you know, not the result obviously, but to get that performance after
00:20Saturday I was quite surprised, you know, I thought it would be scrappier, I still thought
00:23we'd win it, but I thought it would be a scrappy game, but it ended up being pretty much domination
00:28from us, so I feel for the guys inside because I think they deserve to win it, like I said,
00:34I think nine times out of ten, maybe more, we win that game, but congratulations to the
00:39locals, they hung in, they were looking for pens the last 20 minutes, which again shows
00:44a compliment to us, you know, they were slowing it down, which again, I said to the guys in
00:47there, take that as a huge compliment, and, you know, maybe other teams next season will
00:52have to maybe follow that lead to do what we did on Saturday, and then the boys obviously
00:57go out and enjoy themselves, which they would do, and to come back and give us a performance
01:01like that, I mean, I'm proud of them, I thought they were outstanding, I don't care about
01:04the pens, you know, it could easily be us sitting here scoring a couple of pens, I'm
01:08not interested in that, I mean, we wanted to win the game in 90 minutes, and I think
01:11we did enough to do that, but like I said, you've got to take your hat off to the locals
01:14because they dug in, scrapped, and they've got boys on the line, I think they had two
01:17cleared off the line, our goalie had an outstanding game, and he had to, and, yeah, then the day
01:25you just get on with it, and we've got a big game Saturday, and then there'll be more
01:29trophies to play for in the future.
01:30That's it, the guys have got a taste for trophies now, you've broken that seven-year kind of
01:34weight, if you like, and I know these guys are desperate to win a lot more with Buckingham
01:37Fizzell.
01:38Yeah, and they're good enough, they can go and win multiple trophies if they stick together,
01:41we've said that, so, they all love it here, you know, the club's a great club, so, keep
01:46them together for a few more years, and then I'm sure they'll win three, four trophies.
01:50It's now about shaping your destiny now, whether it's Highland League or Scottish League next
01:53season with us players.
01:55Yeah, and we're looking forward to it, you know, it's a big challenge, I've not looked
01:58at them, I'll be honest, I know they're good, I know a little bit about them, East Kilbride,
02:03but, I mean, straight after Saturday I focus on this, but this was, you know, Monday was
02:07the first time I looked at them, and tomorrow will be the first time I look at East Kilbride,
02:11and it just shows you the fixture list that we had in the games, and you've got to look
02:16at the next game, so now we're going to look at East Kilbride from tomorrow, and hopefully
02:20we've got a game plan in place that will give us a good opportunity to get a result.
02:23Because you've managed the fitness of the players so well over the last few weeks, and
02:26despite all the toils and the troubles, really, of getting these guys from game to game, it
02:30continues into the next two.
02:32They're super professional, I've said it before, I've never had a bunch that love the gym so
02:35much, I don't know what they're doing, I don't know how they get to their work, because they're
02:38in the gym all the time, and recovering, and doing the right things, so, great bunch, and
02:46great bunch, and yeah, hopefully they'll have a good performance on Saturday.
