We knew the MLB season would be shortened, but now it has been interrupted as well and teams will be scrambling to adjust to make up postponed games and with numerous doubleheaders to play. Sports Illustrated host Robin Lundberg talked with SI baseball writer Emma Baccellieri and Max Goodman of InsidethePinstripes to get their thoughts on how the remainder of the season could unfold.

00:00 We knew the Major League Baseball schedule would be shortened, but now it's been interrupted as well.
00:06 For more on that, I'm joined by our Emma Batchelieri and Max Goodman of Inside the Pinstripes.
00:11 Emma, the strangest start to a baseball season you've ever seen?
00:15 Yeah, absolutely. I mean, you know, this week we finally do have the Phillies and Marlins starting to play again
00:20 after they were sidelined last week by the Marlins' COVID outbreak, but now at the same time we're having the Cardinals
00:26 dealing with an outbreak of their own, and what we're seeing here is that, you know, there's no way that the schedule
00:31 is affected for just the one team that has an outbreak. It really kind of has ripples for around their division
00:36 with the teams they're supposed to be playing and then the, you know, potential future opponents of the team
00:41 they were supposed to be playing, and it gets pretty messy pretty quickly.
00:45 Yeah, and Max, the Yankees, it hasn't impacted their play or their focus clearly, but they're an example of that.
00:52 Right. The Yankees now have to play a doubleheader this weekend because they have three days to play four games
00:57 against the Tampa Bay Rays, and then because of the inclement weather in New York City at the beginning of this week,
01:03 their game on Tuesday was postponed, and now they have a doubleheader on Wednesday.
01:06 So they're playing, you know, six games in five days or whatever it ends up being as everything is ever-changing these days.
01:13 But yes, they're on a seven-game winning streak. They got the best record in baseball, and they're pretty much unstoppable at this point, Robin.
01:21 Well, yeah, they're unstoppable as long as the season doesn't get stopped, which we all hope it will not.
01:28 They're just going to have to play a lot of games in not so many days.
01:31 Max, Emma, appreciate your time as always.
