00:00Tonight's Brewers-Cardinals game has been postponed due to a positive coronavirus test
00:05within the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
00:07That would mean the Nationals, Marlins, Blue Jays, Phillies, Brewers, and Cardinals games
00:11all postponed due to COVID-19.
00:14That's 20% of the league.
00:15For more on that, I'm joined by our Ben Pickman and Corey Parson.
00:19Corey, when you look at this, does it make you think that the Major League Baseball season
00:23is in serious jeopardy?
00:24Yeah, I think we've got to start taking that into consideration.
00:28Earlier this week, I kind of felt like they had a chance to figure it out and that it
00:31was kind of contained to, you know, the one specific situation.
00:34But now as you see it start to spread across the league, you really have to think, Rob
00:37Manfred and these guys got to figure out something and figure out something fast.
00:41You know, it's unfortunate, but listen, when you're not in a centralized location and when
00:45you're traveling around the country, I think it's very difficult to get this done.
00:48I hope they can pull it off, but it doesn't look promising right now.
00:51Yeah.
00:52And so far, it looks like the bubbles have worked, obviously, the NBA making its return
00:56last night.
00:58Ben, what does this make you think about the upcoming NFL season and non-bubbled sports
01:02in general?
01:04It's obviously worrisome.
01:05I mean, as you mentioned, 20 percent of the Major League Baseball teams are currently
01:10postponed tonight as a result of COVID-19.
01:13And so it doesn't bode well for the NFL, who has a ton more players and more staff that
01:18they would need to potentially quarantine in a bubble if they somehow decided to go
01:22that route.
01:24Without a bubble, it seems like this virus is going to spread like a virus, breaking
01:28news on that front.
01:30It was interesting on the NBA front.
01:32If you look ahead to next year, Michelle Roberts, the head of the NBPA, said that they might
01:36actually have to consider using a bubble next year as well.
01:40And so it gives you a little bit of framing as to what the NBA might be thinking ahead.
01:44The NFL looks like it's proceeding without a bubble.
01:46MLB currently is proceeding without a bubble, and we're starting to see the effects of making
01:51those decisions.
01:52Yeah, right now they're just trying to play through it, but it seems like a bubble or
01:55playing in another country is the only way to have sports without the virus spreading.
02:00Hopefully these seasons can finish, but certainly there are concerns.
02:05Ben, Corey, appreciate your time.
