The Indians infield is going to be in transition, possibly as early as 2021. The team has a big time prospect right now in the minors who is going to get plenty of looks working out in Eastlake at Classic Park, that being Nolan Jones. What does the future hold for Jones and where do the Indians see him fitting eventually on their big league roster?

00:00 Hi everyone, I'm Matt Lodi on Cleveland Baseball Insider here on SI.com.
00:04 When it comes to the Cleveland Indians, we all know that it has to do with draft picks
00:08 and prospects.
00:09 If this organization hits on those, they have a chance to be a winning organization.
00:13 If not, they're going to be stuck in the mud and not winning divisions anytime soon.
00:18 One player who's expected to be a top prospect and has already shown a hot bat is that of
00:22 Nolan Jones.
00:23 Jones came to Goodyear, Arizona this March and was with the team throughout parts of
00:27 spring training, even though it was made known that he would not be making the big league
00:30 roster this year.
00:32 Jones is going to get more bats when he goes to Eastlake and plays at Classic Park, the
00:35 home of the eight Lake County captains for the Indians, along with the other taxi squad
00:40 players made up of prospects as well as draft picks.
00:44 When it comes to Nolan Jones, he'll be with this organization sooner rather than later
00:47 at the big league level.
00:49 The infield is very much a big question mark moving forward after next season.
00:53 Carlos Santana, Cesar Hernandez, who's only got a one year deal, Francisco Lindor, and
00:58 we all know about his future, and of course, Jose Ramirez, who may be the only player around
01:02 after 2021.
01:04 It wouldn't be a surprise to see the Indians ask Ramirez to once again move over to second
01:09 base and put Nolan Jones eventually in that third base spot.
01:13 If Jones could be the home run hitter the Indians have seen so far in the minors, he
01:16 might have a bright future with the big league club.
01:19 For Cleveland Baseball Insider and nsi.com, I'm Matt Lodi.
