The MLB is set to return at the end of July and with the return there are many questions that will have the new default "wait-and-see" response. One thing is for sure, the shortened season, as SI's Tom Verducci explains, will lead to an electric September packed with games that will have playoff implications. Verducci explains why the already unique 2020 season could end up with quite the finish.

00:02 If Major League Baseball can avoid
00:08 the very real threats of COVID-19
00:10 long enough to play its intended 60-game season,
00:14 then we could be in for a real treat.
00:17 September should be packed with more meaningful games
00:20 than ever before in baseball history.
00:23 That's because in a 60-game season,
00:25 only about 32 or 33 wins
00:28 puts a team on the cusp of the postseason.
00:32 Last year, after each team had played 60 games,
00:35 there were five non-playoff teams
00:37 that had 31 wins or more after 60 games.
00:40 The Phillies, Cubs, Padres, Rockies, Red Sox, and Rangers.
00:45 The beauty of a short season is that in September,
00:51 we could be looking at more games with playoff implications
00:55 than we've ever seen before.
