With Commissioner Rob Manfred saying he's no longer confident an MLB season will take place this year, it is easy to point out that the crux of these negotiations is finances and nothing more.

00:06 Fans have clearly made it known they are unhappy
00:08 with the current state of MLB,
00:10 and while Commissioner Rob Manfred said
00:11 he is no longer optimistic about the season
00:14 and passed the blame to the players,
00:15 player agent Joel Wolfe has a different take,
00:18 saying, quote, "The Marlins played without fans
00:20 "for 15 years, yet still managed to give a player
00:23 "the biggest contract in sports history,"
00:26 Giancarlo Stanton, of course,
00:27 and then sold the team for a billion dollar profit
00:30 with five competing buyers.
00:33 At this point, I don't know if it is worth putting money
00:35 on there being a season, but if there isn't one,
00:39 we do know baseball fans will be pointing
00:41 to money as the reason.
