For 30 years Indians broadcaster Jim Rosenhaus has spent his summers traveling around calling baseball games. For the first time he's not because of the covid-19 pandemic that shut down all professional sports in and around the country. "Rosey" thinks there will be a season in 2020, but it's going to be very different as he and the rest of baseball tries to get back to normal.

00:00 Hi everyone, I'm Matt Lodi with Cleveland Baseball Insiders here on SI.com.
00:06 Jim Rosenhaus, he's a name that Indians fans have been familiar with for a very long time.
00:10 He's been in the Indians organization as a broadcaster now for some 30 years, but this
00:15 year has been drastically different.
00:17 Rosenhaus, along with fellow co-broadcaster Tom Hamilton, made their way out to Goodyear
00:21 like everybody else did in early February, and Rosie was in the process of doing his
00:25 normal research to get ready for the 2020 season.
00:29 Then of course the pandemic of 2020 took place and baseball was shut down on March 13th.
00:34 I had a chance to speak at length with Rosenhaus last week and talk to him about how things
00:39 went out in Goodyear, as well as how things went when it came down that the season would
00:43 not start on time.
00:45 Rosenhaus believes that there will be a 2020 season, but for now he said that his lawn
00:49 has never looked better, something that obviously he hasn't been able to work on in some 30
00:53 years during the months of April to September.
00:57 For now, the Indians are waiting, just like Rosenhaus and the rest of the broadcasters
01:00 around Major League Baseball, for a season to start.
01:03 We will see if it happens.
01:04 Rosenhaus thinks it will.
01:06 Rob Manfred, the commissioner of baseball, and last week the union, as well as the owners,
01:10 did not have a good week as far as negotiating, but it does look like there will be baseball
01:14 played in 2020.
01:16 Right now the players are just saying where and when, just like broadcasters are as well.
01:20 For Cleveland Baseball Insiders on SI.com, I'm Matt Lodi.
01:24 Thank you.
