If a 2020 season in Major League Baseball exists, it will be minus announcers going on the road. A report from Bruce Levine of WSCR in Chicago reports that home announcers will be doing games from a remote location.

00:00Hi everybody, I'm Matt Lodi for Cleveland Baseball Insider on SI.com.
00:04Well, if there is to be a 2020 Major League Baseball season, it will have a very different
00:08look in terms of broadcasting.
00:10Earlier today, Bruce Levine of WSCR Radio in Chicago reported that home announcers will
00:16not be going on the road with their respective teams.
00:19Of course, here in Cleveland, we all know that we have the beloved Tom Hamilton and
00:23Jim Rosenhaus on the radio side, and on the television side, it's Matt Underwood, Rick
00:27Manning and Andre Knott.
00:29What they're saying is that these guys will not go on the road when the Indians go on
00:33the road, but instead they will be doing the games from a remote location, likely some
00:38sort of studio.
00:39This has already been bannered about for quite some time, and of course it will mean less
00:42people on the road with the teams, which could keep the teams and the players, and of course
00:46the coaching staff as well, much safer.
00:48Also, it's already been tried out with the Korean Baseball League as well, and it's got
00:53mixed results so far.
00:55But again, as of now, Tom Hamilton, Jim Rosenhaus, and the television announcer crew for the
00:59Indians on STO of Rick Manning, Matt Underwood, and Andre Knott will not be going on the road
01:04in 2020.
01:05It appears this will just be a one-year thing if a season is played, and things will get
01:09back to normal, hopefully in 2021.
01:12For Cleveland Baseball Insider and OnSite.com, I'm Matt Lodi.
