00:00Hi everyone, I'm Matt Lodi on Cleveland Baseball Insider here on SI.com.
00:05Well, since 1915, the baseball franchise in Cleveland has been known as the Indians.
00:10There's been some unrest about that team name now for the last few decades, but the tribe has always held strong with the Indians name.
00:17Now that all may change.
00:19Friday evening, after a report from The Athletic came out from Ken Rosenthal and Zach Meisel,
00:23the Indians tweeted out that they are exploring possibly changing their nickname.
00:28If you remember, the Indians took away Chief Wahoo two seasons ago,
00:32and now they possibly could be taking away the whole Indians name as it stands.
00:36Of course, there's going to be plenty of debate on if this is a good move or bad for the tribe,
00:41and of course, they're going to have to come up with a brand new name for this organization if they should go in this direction.
00:47This move also comes on the heels of the National Football League's Washington Redskins announcing on Friday
00:52that they too are looking into possibly changing their name.
00:55According to reports, there's been no pressure from Major League Baseball right now for the Indians to change the name,
01:00but at the same time, they probably would like to see it happen sooner rather than later.
01:05For Cleveland Baseball Insider on SI.com, I'm Matt Lodi.
