Monday the MLB owners and players union spoke on a conference call about the proposals that were sent out over the weekend, and from all indications some strides were made, and it sounds like some decisions are finally being made so that the league can get started in July with an 82-game slate.

00:04Monday there was a conference call held between Major League Baseball's owners as well as
00:07the Players Union, of course about all about getting back on the field for a July start
00:11of a shortened 82-game schedule.
00:14Kevin Acey of the San Diego Union-Tribune caught up with player-rep of the San Diego
00:17Padres, that being Austin Hedges.
00:20Hedges had some very positive comments about yesterday's conference call, stating that
00:24things went very well and that the two sides seem to be getting closer to getting proposals
00:29on the table.
00:30The other big news, of course, is all about the almighty dollar and money.
00:33It's going to come down to money for these two sides to finally get their act together
00:37and get baseball played again in the month of July.
00:40Hedges said yesterday that both sides are going to have to learn to take sacrifices
00:44and that both sides are going to be losers if they don't come to a deal sooner rather
00:48than later.
00:49How do you think the fans feel?
00:51It's the same thing over and over again with players and the owners.
00:54It's all about money.
00:56Hopefully, Hedges' comments, though, will be permeating throughout the rest of the players'
00:59union and that those guys are going to stay positive when it comes to talking to these
01:03owners about some of the proposals on the table.
01:06It looks right now that Major League Baseball is making strides, but there's still a long
01:10way to go in the process.
