00:00No baseball player ever wants to suffer an injury, but they seem especially cruel when
00:12they happen in spring training and the player is told you won't be ready by opening day.
00:17Now because of the coronavirus pandemic, some of those players who suffered injuries that
00:22would have missed opening day will be ready to go if and when a baseball season starts.
00:28Let's begin with New York Yankees left-handed starting pitcher James Paxton.
00:32He underwent off-season back surgery.
00:34Well, Paxton has been throwing off a mound for at least the last three weeks and looks
00:39ready to go.
00:40Justin Verlander, the Houston Astros right-hander, underwent surgery to repair a groin injury
00:46and also had been suffering from a lat strain.
00:48He's already begun to do some long tossing and he should be good to go.
00:53St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Miles Michael has suffered a forearm strain in spring training.
00:58He's begun doing light bullpen session off a mound.
01:02And finally, there's Michael Conforto, who in spring training suffered that dreaded oblique
01:07strain that typically keeps out position players for a month, if not more.
01:12Well, time has passed and Conforto has healed and he's begun taking batting practice.
01:18Four players expected to miss opening day now are good to go when and if we have an
01:23opening day.
