00:00 I think that's kind of what that projection is going off, but it's great to be recognized.
00:04 Obviously, when you work as hard as I do, you're a competitor,
00:08 you want to be up there with the best in the league, so it's definitely an honor to be on that list.
00:12 What do you like about right field as opposed to all the other places you've played?
00:16 I mean, you can project as a, obviously, the arm and everything, there are reasons why you project highly.
00:21 Is there anything particularly about that position you feel like you're especially strong at?
00:26 Yeah, I mean, the run from first base to right field, first base dugout is a lot shorter,
00:31 so when I'm leading off from left field, that's a hike, that's brutal.
00:37 So right field, I was always jealous of Mads, he got to run out,
00:40 I'm sprinting across doing 100-yard shuttles, and he's walking out to right field,
00:45 so that's definitely a key point for me.
00:48 But other than that, I think just growing up, you talk about right field, like power arm, power bat,
00:56 pretty good athlete, and I just, big guy, and I just always felt like, I'm a right fielder.
01:02 But I also had Mads, who I thought was a great right fielder as well,
01:05 so I just played wherever I could until I had the opportunity.
01:08 So I think, like I said, I'm kind of the prototypical right fielder, I think that position fits me pretty well.
01:15 I know you talked about some of your fellow athletes that you've been along with,
01:18 but talk about the pitchers that have been added to the team, and Mike, how excited are you looking at rotations?
01:23 It's crazy, I look online, I see our rotation, 1 through 5, I'm like, geez, I forget we required all these guys.
01:32 They're all great pitchers, and obviously Klubb, we're excited to not have to face him anymore.
01:37 Like I said, that's about 10 less strikeouts a year for me, so that's good for my average.
01:42 But yeah, they're all guys that give you a chance to win games, and I think that as an offensive player,
01:48 that's what you want, you want a guy who's going to go out there and give you a chance.
01:52 And all those guys give us more than a chance to win games, so that's exciting for sure.
01:56 It seems like the rotation, and trying for Rendon, and some other guys,
02:01 it seems like the organization's mentality has shifted more to winning this year,
02:06 as opposed to the rebuild whenever it is. Do you have a sense of that?
02:11 Yeah, I mean, when you build a billion-dollar stadium, it's probably good to win in it, but realistically.
02:18 So that's exciting. My three years here have kind of been, we've been kind of middle of the pack,
02:25 or below 500 and more from the rebuilding stage, so I'm excited that we're taking the steps to go out
02:32 and, hey, we're going to go out there and put our best lineup out there,
02:35 we're going to try to sign the best guys and win games, so that's exciting, at least for me,
02:40 and I know a lot of guys that were in that mode where it's like, hey, let's try to compete and see what happens.
02:46 The field's just different from the end of last offseason.
02:50 Yeah, yeah, I think it does. When you go out and get guys like Kluger,
02:55 and you're signing Torinos, and Frazier, and Gibson, these guys, and Lyles, those are really good players.
03:02 You're not signing those guys just to be mediocre, you're signing them to be a playoff team.
03:07 So definitely a different feel, and I think with a new staff, a second year now, we have a better feel for them as well,
03:13 so that's very exciting.
03:14 That's what I was going to ask you about, second year with Woody.
03:16 I mean, last year at this time, you were still trying to get to know him, he was trying to get to know you guys.
03:19 How different is it, though, and how much did you learn about him that you think makes a big difference now?
03:24 Yeah, Woody, I mean, I can't say enough great things about Woody. I love Woody.
03:29 One of the best managers I've ever had.
03:31 Just a great guy who understands the nature of the game, understands personalities, understands how hard this game really is.
03:40 So I think a lot of guys are a lot more comfortable this year, and I felt very comfortable in the first year as well,
03:47 because he's just that kind of personality we just get along with very easily.
03:50 He's just one of the guys.
03:52 But I think the second year, it's more, you have that real connection now, you have that feel,
03:58 and now it's about going out and winning games.
04:01 But yeah, we couldn't put together a better staff.
04:04 I think we're really blessed with the guys we have.
