Todd Frazier on Astros Scandal, Joining Rangers
Transcript
00:00We didn't, we really didn't know anything about it, to be honest with you.
00:04We were just trying to win games at the end of the day.
00:08It's over and done with.
00:11I wish we would have went to the World Series that year, but we didn't.
00:14We came up a little short.
00:16I'm worried about now.
00:17So for me, it's the Texas Rangers.
00:19It's a new state-of-the-art facility coming up, and it's a new ball club I'm with.
00:23My worries are finding a new home right now in the city here.
00:27It is what it is, and everything's been settled now.
00:31What do you think when you read that type of news?
00:34They obviously came out with a report, and it seems like it's gotten dry.
00:37Yeah, I mean, at the end of the day, it was wrong what happened.
00:41But for me, like I said, I'm worried about my team now.
00:46I'm focused on the task at hand, and that's being a Texas Ranger.
00:52Do you think this is a problem?
00:53I mean, everybody steals signs, but to do it?
00:56I think the commissioner's working it out.
00:58So I think it'll be a lot different now with what went about it, what happened.
01:05Losing a manager and some other guys getting fired or leaving.
01:11So it'll be something you'll have to go over in spring training with the team,
01:15and you'll have to focus on just another thing to make sure everybody's on the same page.
01:22Just keep playing the game the right way, and everything should take care of itself.
01:26What did you think about your season last year?
01:28It seemed like it was better.
01:30I felt good. Yeah, I felt good.
01:31I mean, I was streaky.
01:33A lot of ups, a lot of downs.
01:35But at the end of the day, I batted the highest I've batted in four or five years.
01:43I was injured.
01:44I didn't play 23, 24 games because of an oblique injury, and I came back stronger.
01:49So I credit the staff at New York for getting me back into shape.
01:54I thought overall I had a really good year, and something to build on.
02:01Are you open?
02:02I'm sure you've run across a big push into analytics.
02:08Last year was about teaching the guys a lot of process.
02:12Is that something you're already on board with, open to?
02:15I'm open to all that stuff.
02:17Any way to help.
02:18The pitchers are getting better and better each year.
02:21This division is a pretty tough division with the pitching staff.
02:25For us, the more we can know, the more knowledge we can put into our brains.
02:32But at the end of the day, it's like taking a test.
02:35You study, you study, you study, so you should be fine for the test.
02:38Baseball is a little different.
02:39You can study as much as you want.
02:41But when you get in the box, you don't want to be thinking about all those things.
02:44It should just come natural.
02:47Your focus should be on the pitcher.
02:49We've got virtual reality, we have numbers, we have stats on anything.
02:53I'm a fan of it all.
02:55It's just a matter of what works for me.
02:57I think that's what we're going to make the adjustment on.
02:59What analytical or statistical analysis or virtual reality is going to be helpful for yourself.
03:05There's a couple of things I like doing, and I think that helped me out last year.
