LA Clippers guard Reggie Jackson says meditation has helped him in his mental approach to the gam

00:00 NBA players have all sorts of avenues by which they can improve their performance both on and off the court.
00:05 For LAClipper's guard Reggie Jackson, meditation is what helps him bring his game to the next level.
00:09 In a video he sent to the team on Tuesday, Jackson discusses how the practice has helped his approach to the mental side of basketball, saying
00:16 "I think meditation just brings a sound mind for myself. I'm at peace when I'm on the court.
00:20 I don't really view things as good or as bad as things as they are. I listen to the inner me. It's like a self-dialogue.
00:26 You're becoming aware of where you're at in the moment. I feel more calm. I feel more awake, alert. I want to continue to live in that zone.
00:32 I practice being in the here and now. I don't really delve too much into the past."
00:36 It's hard to say if meditation is the main reason for it, but Jackson has been a revelation since he joined the Clippers in February.
00:41 Through nine games, which is an admittedly small sample size, Jackson is averaging 9.5 points per game to go along with three rebounds and three assists in just under 20 minutes per contest.
00:51 Top it off, he's shooting a career-high 39.8% from the two-point range on the season and 45% from deep with the Clippers.
00:58 Fans were skeptical of his fit with the team given LA's abundance of ball-dominant guards, but if anything, Jackson's presence has made the bench even better.
01:07 Improved spacing and movement were evident before the season came to a halt back in March, and his pairing alongside Lou Williams has worked in both players' favor so far.
01:14 Lou's numbers are down a bit as far as averages go, but in the stretch since Jackson came to the team, he shot 48% from three-point range in those eight or nine games that he's played in with Jackson.
01:26 Time will tell if Jackson truly makes the Clippers a better team in the long run, but for now, it seems like his approach to the game has made a significant difference on his play.
