Siakam shows there's more to the journey than winning
Transcript
00:00 Hey guys, Aaron Rose here from Sports Illustrated.
00:03 Yesterday Pascal Siakam was on Instagram Live with Demar DeRozan and it got me thinking
00:08 about how much thought we put into wins and losses and how much that matters in our sports
00:13 culture and how sometimes we need to take a step back and look more at the journey.
00:19 Siakam was talking about how the most fun he ever had in an NBA season wasn't last year
00:24 when he teamed up with Kawhi Leonard and led the Raptors to an NBA title.
00:29 And it wasn't even this year when the Raptors handed the keys to the franchise and basically
00:33 turned him into the alpha male on the team.
00:36 It was actually in the 2017-18 season when he, Fred VanVleet, Jakob Pertl, and DeLon
00:43 Wright teamed up and made the bench mob.
00:47 He said, "That was the most fun I ever had playing basketball.
00:51 It was so fun, the whole team was together.
00:53 Literally, it was amazing."
00:55 I'm not saying wins and losses don't matter.
00:58 I'm just saying I think we should concentrate a little bit more on the journey and spend
01:01 less time focusing on the destination.
