00:00I'm Melissa Rowland with Sports Illustrated and I'm here with Jill Painter-Lopez.
00:07So Jill, the NBA season was suspended on March 11th due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
00:13We've been without basketball or without sports in general for about three weeks.
00:18Everybody's looking at China and they're a couple of months ahead of us in this crisis
00:23and we're looking at how they've handled it and when sports will resume.
00:28How much can we glean from what's going on over there in terms of how it might affect
00:32the NBA?
00:33Well, I think we can learn a lot from what China is doing and we can expect that we're
00:39at least a couple of months behind whatever they're doing.
00:41And unfortunately, they just suffered a setback with the Chinese government delaying the Chinese
00:48Basketball Association and all sports leagues once again because they're way past the height
00:55of the curve and we haven't gotten to the height of the COVID-19 pandemic curve here
00:59in the U.S.
01:00I think it was a little bit of a blow to everybody who was hoping that we might get restarted
01:05with the NBA in June or July.
01:07That very well could be, but it's looking less and less likely since China just delayed
01:13the start of their sports season again.
01:15And of course, we're looking to them for everything right now in terms of playing in one city,
01:21having all the teams quarantined in one hotel, one arena without fans.
01:24They were looking at doing things like that.
01:26The NBA has discussed those possibilities as well, but for now, everything unfortunately
01:30once again put on hold.
