The Royal at Heysham began life in the 16th century as a grain store before being transformed into a pub a century later.

Today the inn has been lovingly restored as part of a multi-million-pound investment by Daniel Thwaites, providing eleven en-suite rooms, many of which have retained unique original features.

00:00So I've arrived in Heasham and I'm looking forward to my stay at The Royal, which is a four-star hotel.
00:10And it's previously been nominated for Lancashire Tourism Awards.
00:16So it's definitely got some pedigree behind it and Heasham is actually beautiful.
00:21It's got great coastlines and I'm looking forward to the food and the comfortable stay.
00:31Guests can enjoy award-winning food in the hotel's dining room, which is charming in design and offers the perfect backdrop for a delightful culinary experience.
00:41And the bar area offers the perfect escape to hunker down for brunch, lunch or a relaxing drink.
00:47With roaring fires, it's a really warming atmosphere to experience for all guests.
00:54Rich in detail and history, the Royal at Heasham bedrooms offer comfortable and stylish relaxation.
01:01Each room is filled with characterful details and these small details made a big difference,
01:06which is why the hotel makes sure every room comes with a few little extras, including crumbly biscuits and fresh milk for a proper cup of tea.
01:15Now I was really impressed with the room. It felt cosy, homely, but managed to fit everything in, like your shower, toilet and a big enough bathroom.
01:25I enjoyed the amount of natural light that was able to come into the room, which made everything a lot brighter.
01:31But most importantly, it was that double bed that was really comfy.
01:36So just outside the Royal Heasham is St Peter's Church, which the general manager, Alistair, told me Black Sabbath actually posted their album cover and it was taken right here at St Peter's Church, which is very interesting.
01:57Well, looking around, it's just beautiful scenery. We're on right next to the beach, basically.
02:04And yeah, as you can see behind me, yeah, beautiful scenery and just an ideal place, really, for any hotel.
02:17And it's just made the stay really beautiful. And it's kind of its own little village in a way, yeah, connected to the hotel.
02:28And I'd kind of recommend anyone to stay, not just because the hotel itself, but the walks you can go on, the weather's getting better going into summer.
02:39And yeah, the whole thing has just been a really enjoyable experience.
02:44Speaking to Alistair himself, he's really proud of what he's created at the Royal.
02:51They've got a 120 seater beer garden, which will be a lot busier now that the summer months are approaching.
03:03So for anyone thinking about visiting Heasham or wanting to stay somewhere with the beach on your doorstep, I'd definitely recommend the Royal at Heasham.
03:13And you can clearly see why it's garnered not just local awards, but being nominated for Lancashire Tourism Awards.
03:21And yeah, I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend anyone to go.
